finished another build on the weekend, didn't do a build diary but here's the finished pics. Wanted to build a Stevie Ray Vaughan looking strat. Stain is oak Feast Watson. About 9 coats of tru-oil. Changed the pickguard/control knobs/pickup covers to black.

Wow Wokka - another awesome strat! Sounds great too - just with the stock pickups? I really gotta make myself one of these. Love the match between the headstock and the body. Really slick. Another worthy GOTM entry! ;)
cheers,
Gav.
-
cheers Gav, yes stock pups, think that kit cost me $99 !
I still got about 3 GOTM entries up my sleeve !
-
Looks a real contender.....
-
Looks clean as a whistle Wokka. Only thing I would suggest is rounding off that harsh edge on the pickguard down on the lower horn. I think it would just take this guitar to the next level if it were shaped similarly.
Still, great beast as usual. :)
-
cheers Gavmeister and Brodie,
good point Brodie I might round off the pickguard, cheers mate, didn't really pick that up !
It's a PBG pickguard

digging those pups. My STA1-M is on the home stretch so I will be looking forward to hearing how they sound on my rig!
-
another fine 4D strat - great work wokka, green room looks good with all those axes too
-
cheers Nick and Stan.
Stan thats less than half my axe collection you can see in the video !
-
Whoa. Less than half? Damn son.
Pretty hot playing there Woks, she's a beaut.
-
cheers Pablo, last count (including CBG's) was 55 axes/basses that were strung and made noise
Lucky I haven't got GAS ! haha
-
Another really nice looking guitar Warren, you just keep churning them out. But it can't be a real SRV tribute guitar with THAT much finish on it. lol.
rob
-
cheers Robin, agreed it's not beaten up and bare wood showing like a real SRV axe but I can't get into this relicing of axes.
-
Nice job Wokka. Of course to complete the SRV vibe you need to swap out the bridge for a lefty Strat whammy bar. And string it with the heaviest strings you can find.
-
cheers Fretty, of course a lefty bridge, might put some bass strings on haha
-
I read somewhere that he was using a .018 as a high E string for all while! Before he wimped out and went back to a .013. His handshake must have been crushing.
-
wow so basically a G string gauge on high E. Bet he had strong fingers/hands. I never get sick of watching his live concerts on youtube while working on axes. Wonder what his low E string gauge was ?
-
I think the low E was a high tension cable...
