looks awesome Mick, got any more photos ? and maybe a colour photo to show us the stain colours ?
looks great Mick, I'm a natural at getting stuff on the binding...
Great photo Mick! What is the actual guitar colour? Would love to see one of the dye. Looks like she's coming along beautifully!
cheers,
Gav.
Cheers guys, I’m starting the clear coats today and I’ll hook into the wiring over the weekend as well. Hopefully I’ll have this or the SG done by the end of the month :)
No color photos until she’s strung up, it’ll be worth the wait believe me, the color is rich and the grain is jumping off the body ;)
Nice!

Secretive bugger . . . .
Q: How do you keep wannabe luthiers in suspense?
A: I'll tell you next week . . . .
You're such a tease. I bet you say that to all the forumites!Quote:

Just put coat #2 of clear on the body..... only 56 more to go! haha I'll settle for nothing less than mirror finish :)

woah... the grain really comes to life with some gloss.
Drool! These black and white photos sure keep us in suspense. Can't wait for a first colour peek!
cheers,
Gav.

still hitting it with clear.... I think I'm 1 or 2 away from a mirror finish :)

got my wiring jig set up as well, will hopefully start on this during the week. It's all stock except for the switch which turned out to be broken, thank goodness I realized before I soldered it all up and installed it haha.

the lineup...
looking good Mick, but there is nowhere near enough crap on your benches...
haha, I cleaned it up before I took the photo... and deliberately didn't get the other bench in the shot ;)
Looking awesome Mick!
cheers,
Gav.
yer coming along nicely Mick, love the black and white pics
got the wiring harness done this arvo, I'll strap it onto my diddley bow tomorrow to see if it works before I install it.

I threw some white paint on the pickup surrounds and knobs as well.... just to brighten it up a bit ;)

Looks good so far. Because I am convinced I can see colour in black and white (even though that's impossible), I'm putting bets on gold bridge/tailpiece and blueish green stain with beigey-yellow binding.
Keep them coming!
it's been a while...
I figured I should get around to finishing this beauty off so I've been cutting and buffing the finish up ready to start assembly :)
I'm really stoked on the overall finish, it's like a flat gloss... if that makes sence.

wow Mick that looks stunning. Is this an ES-1GT with the trapeze tailpiece ? Think it is with the trapezoid fret markers look so much better than dot markers
Cheers mate, na this was a custom order. It's a standard ES-1G (hardtail) kit with the neck from the ES-1GT (trapezoid fret markers)
nice work Mick, wish I did that with my ES-1G. Dot markers just don't do it for me on G type axes
Finished polishing and have begun fitting the hardware :)
have also started to go crazy :D

love pics and work Mick
another ES builder that's going to need rehab to walk the streets safely again . hooking up the sparky bit's is enough to put you in a mental home hey Mick lol.....
Axe looks sMICKo though.
Your pics are always so nice to look at Mick. Don't leave that bridge on backwards though, makes the intonation screws really hard to get to. :)
Cheers mate, I guess you could call me a freelance photographer so I always feel like I have to put in a litter extra effort when I take a photo of anything (some call it OCD)Quote:

As for the bridge, yeah… the screws aren’t in the best spot for adjusting but the saddles are all correct (low E at the top and little e at the bottom) so that gets me thinking they were just put in all in reverse but I was reading in another thread the screws are supposed to be on that side which just makes no sense.
I am going to change all the saddles around though.
Oh yeah, how odd. I was setting up my mate's Maton Mastersound on the weekend and it's bridge has the screws facing the pickup like that. I had to fully detune the strings and remove them from the saddles to get at the screw, then adjust, then retune to check I got it right. Silly little design flaw.
I don't know what all you guys were talking about saying the wiring is hard to do!
In all honesty it took me about 10 mmins to get it all in just by droppping it all in and jambing my fingers in the F hole and popping them back up through.
It's strung up at the moment and I'll take some finised photos over the weekend :)

looks awesome Mick, you must have the F hole knack mate, suppose if the wiring harness is tidy and cable tied probably makes it easier.
Can you possibly take some colour photos as well so we can see the colours ? The black and whites are awesome but doesn't give us an idea of the colours
Of course they'll be colour :) it's so deep and rich it'd be a shame not to show it off in all it's glory!
Looks fantastic :)
sounds awesome Mick, no doubt it will be ready to enter GOTM on the weekend !

Perhaps Mick is really an intelligent Aye-Aye

Remarkable resemblance there to Yoda ... and the force was with him to get the wiring in..lol
Geez talk about the suspense build up with these black and white photos.
Looking great anyways
Gorgeous. The blue and white work really well together.
