HOLY CRAP! That is awesome!
-
unreal Lachlan, that is so original and love the rustic effect. Even the off centre headstock shape works really well with the pyrographics and custom pickguard, a very worthy contender !
-
Another lefty! Awesome originality, love the fretboard and the Angus style lightning bolt design, such great touches

Hey guys,
Well... I was not sure whether would enter the Matriarch into the guitar of the month or not, but in the end decided I would. Many of you are aware that it was built to honour my 101 year old grandmother who bought me my first guitar when I was 12 years old and has encouraged me musically ever since (as stated on the neck plate). So here it is in all its glory. The only mods are an ESP humbucker and roller string trees.
Also, I have received a lot of advice and encouragement during this build from many forum members and for that I am grateful.
Cheers,
Lawry

I don't mind admitting that I teared up a little when I got to that last shot of the neck plate. You have done an amazing job with this one Lawry, and the story behind it just adds to the experience of witnessing what you've created. Bravo!
-
simply amazing quality guys!
-
Wow wow wow wow WOW!!!
I need to get my pyrography up to scratch soon.... I tried on my LP and failed :P
-
Two great guitars to get the December comp rolling.
-
Come on guys, there's still one day left to enter your builds. Someone must be ready to post. Do it!
-
Agreed , first of all the guitars just looks amazing , second of all that is a great story behind the build and one to cherish. Well done
-
Hey Guys, I haven't entered one of my guitars into GOTM for a while so I thought I might as well with "Serena's Strat".

Minwax Satin Wipe-on Polly over Japan Black dye
Tru-Oil neck
Tonerinder Pickups
Orange Drop Cap and 7 Sound wiring mod

Looks brilliant Robin. The headstock is really cool and I love the contrast between the satin of the body and shine of the scratchplate.
-
Thanks Lawry, pretty happy how she turned out. She is actually more black that the photos show. But a combination of lousy photographer and crappy camera and she looks brown :(
Thanks mate

I know what you mean about colour differences. The green on the Matriarch is actually very deep bottle green but in the photos it usually looks froggy green. I guess people will just have to come round to our houses and see the real thing, what?
-
Hey Lawry, your "Matriarch" looks great in the photos. But dark bottle green must show off that scratch plate at treat.
It'll be no good coming around to my place, the Strat will be gone on Sunday :( But she's going to a good home. Lol.
Cheers mate

Hi all,
I introduced myself a couple of months back then promptly got stuck into my kit and failed to produce a build diary. Too preoccupied with my adventures in the man cave :D I have been lurking around soaking up the wealth of knowledge and tips so it seems only fair I should share the result of my build and thank you all for so much information shared so freely.
This is my TL-1 'Blondie'.
http://www.pitbullguitars.com/wp-con...-Tele-7162.jpg
A stock build except for the black pickguard and Schaller straplocks. Six coats of Wudtone Dairy Blonde, gold highlights and ten coats of gloss top coat. The neck was shaped from a template I found online then given two coats of vintage yellow and two gloss coats. I've masked the fretboard because I preferred the light maple tone and the face was given a Dr Ducks wax coat. All electrics are standard except for the 'hot rod' tone mod.

Good luck to all entrants - there's some outstanding work this month. Thanks again to the Pitbull Community for sharing so much knowledge here. It really is a good reason to keep coming back again and again.
Cheers,
Dennis.
P.S. Almost forgot. Real happy with the way she feels and sounds!!

-
well done to all the entrants this month, they are all worthy contenders and beautifully finished. It's going to be another tough month for the judges ! Best of luck to all forum members who entered, its been a while since we only had 4 or 5 entrants !
-
Good luck to all the entrants this month. Every guitar is superb and I'm glad I don't have to pick a winner. Well done guys!
Cheers,
Gav.
-
Thanks for the positive comments fellas! You've all been turning out some fine looking work so I'm very grateful.
@Stan I'm not much of a Springsteen guy being more out in Tom Waits territory. Maybe I should learn to play Jersey Girl :)
Best of luck to all this months entrants - some fine work on display again!
Cheers,
Dennis.

And the winner is...
In 3rd place this month, Dennis's TL-1
http://www.pitbullguitars.com/wp-con...ennisTL103.jpg
"This is so beautifully put together. The close up photo really shows the quality and the effort put into this build. Classic colour choice for a tele. Headstock decal would really have finished her off. Well done, what a truly lovely guitar."
"Classic guitar in a classic finish. Awesome job!"
"Nice finish, understated. Lovely guitar."
In 2nd place, Lawry's JM-1 "The Matriarch"
http://www.pitbullguitars.com/wp-con...LawryJM102.jpg
"This dedication special (and tearjerker) is fantastic. It's outstanding colour seems to really be fitting of its jazz heritage. Beautifully built, it oozes quality. Such a wonderful and loving thing to have dedicated this to an obviously special and dear lady. She would be so proud of you."
"Great looking guitar and a great story to go with it!"
And the Winner of Pit Bull Guitars December Guitar of the Month is...
Robin's ST-1
http://www.pitbullguitars.com/wp-con...RobinST103.jpg
"In my opinion we have the winner. Finished beautifully the guitar glows fabulously"
"Who would have thought? A black ash strat that would look so awesome. This one surprises but should considering the builder! I'd grab this one for my collection along with Dennis's tele....I couldn't take the matriarch of Lawry, it has too much sentimental value to him."
"Wow, the build quality on this is superb. The black finish is so subtle, but oh so very very classy. The headstock decal is a revelation, such a nice finishing touch. If this were hanging on a guitar shop wall I would be drawn to it as if it was magnetised. Total class, well done."
"This one immediately grabbed my attention. So elegantly understated. I would be proud to have this in my collection. Take a bow Robin."
Congratulations Robin and Well done everyone involved.
-
Robin - another worthy winner - looks like a handicap is due!
-
An excellent choice for first place!
Although I was hoping I would score top spot (of course) I couldn't help but think that this Strat just oozes class. Well done Robin. Full congrats to you.
Cheers.
-
Well done fellas!
Robin, that black finish is fantastic and would be a definite stand out on any shop wall.
Lawry, your colour combo is just awesome and she sounded sweet in your video too!
Cheers,
Dennis.
-
Congratulations to all three of you.
-
Congratulations guys, magnificent builds everyone of them...would have been a close thing.
Well done Robin, that black strat is an absolute pearler.
You must be as proud as punch...well deserved win.
