Looking good Sergio.
It might just be the picture, but be sure to finish ragging the wudtone paint with the grain as you end the application of each coat.
I'm assuming this is the first coat so far and i am looking forward to see how this burst turns out!
Wait till you see the rest of the photos Gav, you'll be blown away. (I've been lucky enough to have a sneak peek).
You will post the rest of the photos Sergio?

Wow Sergio, that looks amazing. Well done.
What did you use for the final coats to get that DEEP gloss?
Sigh: and yet another kit to add to my ever growing list. ;)
cheers

Sensational!
Yeah! Reckon Andy would also like to know how you got such a deep gloss as would I!
Adam, you were right!
Montinijr,
I've removed the duplicated photos. And, yes, I think we all want to know how you got that amazing high gloss.
We are all enjoying the tonal benefits that a thin layer of Wudtone finish gives our guitars, but there's something to be said for a high gloss finish. It would be nice to give people the option of more tone or more gloss, then leave it up to them.
Holy crap, that's one sexy looking guitar!
Seriously sexy lookin Axe there!!!
Hey Sergio. Top notch burst, the best on this forum so far (sorry everyone else, but you know it's true).
Thank you! I just tried something on it hope I can bring the look back, coated with gold flakes now need to wetsand and clear coat again!!!Quote:

1) Where'd ya get the gold flakes from???
2) Do they adhere to the body themselves, if not, how did you get them to???
3) Do they withstand the application of Wudtone, or what are you using to clear coat it???
1) You can get different colour metal flake from most auto paint shops.Quote:

2) The flake gets mixed with the clear coat and sprayed on. So it's in the lacquer not just on top.
3) I doubt it. If anything, it would be very uneven.
Wow, this looks super cool! Love the gold flake.
He's not using Wudtone mate, check his posts on the previous pageQuote:

Hello mates, yes I did not use wudtone, I use tattoo ink to dye the top, on this I've used black red red and orange orange orange and yellow yellow, wood lacquer thinner based for that shiny gloss lots of wet sanding ( p400 then p600 then p800) in between the coats, doing all the same again to make 3 different layers of clear coat, first that shiny gloss (lacquer) then the automotive clear enamel with the gold ( can be find at Jacksons art shop on Beaufort street in the city) then the last shiny gloss wood lacquer will be the last thing to do, and when it's really dry wet sand it from p600 up to p1600 by the time you get to p1600 it will be shining just by sanding and to buff it up after the sanding will used professional automotive polishing paste. Should be awesome by the 4th or 5th application . Hope this are good informations and thanks for the comments about my project!Quote:

Sergio sent me some more teasers of his finished ES-1G. I'm hoping we can get Sergio down to Pit Bull Guitars HQ for some more shots of his build. Looking forward to seeing this one in the flesh.
Here's just a few of the snaps he sent:

Hey Sergio, I really love this guitar, but the scratch plate is just screaming "wrong colour". I think you should go with a solid colour plate; most probably black.
Edit: If you could get a black scratch plate and do the gold speckle finish on it, I think that would work perfectly.
Agree with adam, scratchplate looks out of place.
