I purchased a DSCM-1 kit in 2020 with the aim of trying to make something like a Truckster, or something inspired by a Truckster. I'm not sure how reliced (!) it will end up, but I have finally got around to starting.
So far:
lots of sanding up to 240 g.
levelled, filed and polished the frets.
shaped the headstock.
One belly cut.
Good move on any LP-style body IMO! (and tele's too!)Quote:

I have applied 2 coats of FW sanding sealer using a brush, with 400g sanding after each coat. Feels nice and smooth.
Now waiting for some good spraying weather!
I have just had a couple of weeks out of action due to shoulder surgery. No building and No guitar playing has been very difficult to deal with. Hopefully I can pick up a spray can and make the most of the good spraying weather in Perth.:)
Sorry to hear about the shoulder. Been there, done that! Hope your recovery goes smoothly.
Be sure and DO your physio exercises! You don't want frozen shoulder on top your original problem. (don't ask me how I know :o)

Thanks McCreed and Simon. Yes, I will do the physio. I have had frozen shoulder before and therefore know I do not want it again.
I was not sure about how to relic the paint job of this guitar, either:
1. spray the 4 layers of paint and then sand back to reveal the different layers, or
2. mask where I do not want the paint and then paint, re-mask for the next layer etc.
I decided with the second method, for the main parts, as I thought that would produce a rougher edge between the paint layers rather than a smoother edge. And a bit of method 1 for the smaller parts.
I have sprayed 4 layers of MTN-94 paint from rattle cans - black, white, coffee brown, and pearl grey.
FWIW, a nice thing about a reliced guitar is that there was no stress about getting a perfect finish, and no stress about handling the guitar to prevent any dings and scratches.:o

Your weather must be a lot better than ours. (Vancouver Island Canada). Got a rare snowstorm here - still spraying in the garage at -6 c.
Perth is 35 degrees C today!
I added a Cricut cut logo to the headstock and a sticker to the body. (It must have been a bad omen as I have since contracted Covid:(
I have also added a few layers of clear over the top. Sanded smooth only upto 1200 g. I'm not going to do any polishing.
COVID on top of shoulder rehab. It never rains, it pours. Interesting stuff you are doing with the paint job. Any particular significance to the Biohazard emblem? Eager to see where she goes.

Yesterday the Neck was put on.
Today I have been busy:
Bridge and tail stop inserts added. Wiring (standard LP style) is done and fitted. The pickups (upgraded to Tonerider Birminghams) are fitted. The cavity covers are fitted. Added Grover locking machine heads. Strap buttons on.
Strings are on and rough tuned. I will leave it sit a few days before final setup.
Truss rod cover, made out of 3ply pickguard material, created and fitted. I'm not sure if, down the line, I will put a LP vinyl decal on this or not.
String intonation is done - set heights at 12th fret, filed the nut slots for a low action, adjusted the string lengths. All seems good.
Only real problem was that my nut files go down to 0.010", but I'm using medium strings going down to 11. Hopefully the slots will wear to the slightly thicker strings.
Just to finish this off. My original inspiration was this photo which appeared on this forum in 2020 (I cannot remember who posted it!). As soon as I saw it, I decided I needed to have something similar.
