Here's a mix I have just finished, sadly no Pitbull instruments were used on this one, the baritone is a Tele kit from a long defunct company and the Tele is a Squier CV Thinline with Blackguard pups, string parts are played on a Yamaha Clavinova
Max wrote the song back in the early 70s and released it in 1975, we have reworked it quite a lot from it's straight country original format
I'm only leaving it on SC for a few days to give folks a listen

It's getting there, I didn't like the drums they had heavy gated reverb ( 1980s Phil Collins ) which Max liked, I've now stripped them right back and they still have a decent presence but the wollieness is gone and I have also tightened the harmoniesQuote:

Glad I got a listen in when I did! I liked what I heard but will be interested to hear the new mix and compare

I know. I thought it would put him off the gated drums idea.
It's certainly put me off and I never liked it in the first place!
Remix done, the troops are happy and the animals fed and back in their cages.
Gated drums removed funnily enough without debate
Lead Vocal further forward ( band pulled down a bit )
Harmonies moved in from 15% to 3% to bind closer with the lead vox
Bass guitar, a bit of bottom removed and the mids pushed up a bit

Max is the dude on the right holding the acoustic, I'm on the left with my PB Tuff Dog Tele and Bob Browne (RIP) in the middle
There's an instant vibe to this, I've got a vision of a near-empty dance floor as a band plays a final number and the staff are already packing up. There's definitely red velvet involved somewhere.

No so much worried about copywrite for this track as it is a rerecord sung by the composer.
I get the whole bit about ownership once it is published but the world isn't necessarily a place of good intentions.
Prior to pulling it down the track had been shared onwards by persons unknown and soundcloud permissions could be a lot stronger than they are

One of my bands always finished the night with The Stones It's All Over Now segued into Save The Last Dance For Me and the last band I was in always finished the night with The Spaniels "Goodnight Sweetheart" which sounded more Beach Boys because that's where our voices and harmonies sat.Quote:

There was a guy in a light grey onesie who obviously didn't have a lot on under it and of course when the lights dipped for Save The Last Dance he cuddled up nice and tight to his dance partner, his night probably ended there and then because when the lights came back on the was a large dark wet patch where there shouldn't have been.

Drums sound much tighter now, good work on that. Vocal harmonies are nice. Really great sounding mix! I get some Eric Bogle vibes from it.
Dave, I'm so glad you put it back up. I don't have the background to seriously critique it but you sure impressed me!
Thanks CS, I'm pretty happy with it but I'm sure in 12 months time there will be something I'll hear and wish I had done differently.
Recordings are like children at some stage you have to cut them loose and let them live.
My sig has a link to our first album that goes back to early 2019 and there's so much there that I would do differently as I have learned a lot and have some new tools that I didn't have then. The last note in the solo in Brown Bottle makes my teeth itch
Our 2nd is all but complete, we have some harmonies to redo if we ever get out of lockdown and I have to add some guitar parts/solos on a few tracks and then polish up.
Obviously I can record myself and also record Max remotely but I can't record Julie at the moment because she doesn't have an interface and I don't speak Mac very well
