If a major label can get away with this finish then I feel better about some of my finish problems....... This is a friend’s Gretsch Electromatic. Having the chance to compare it my builds, I think the Gretsch is a bit gutless and has the sustain of a banjo.....

FWIW, I could never see the dolphin magically appear within those dot paintings from the 90's.
A banjo only has to sustain the fire long enough to set the accordion alight. Just remember it is kindling, not the main event. ;)
That's the neck heel/body joint. Top of the body upper right, curve of the heel bottom lower left.
Perfect pitch is when you chuck the piano accordion in the dumpster and it smashes the banjo....

Something tells me that neither banjos, nor accordions don't seem to be too popular around these here parts....*scratches head*.....wonder why?....hmmmmmmm
Ever tried working on a free reed instrument? They are seriously complicated. I'm a little into concertinas, and you wonder how a little box that will fit into an 8in cube can be so damn expensive, until you look, and there must be a dozen fiddly little components for each of 30 buttons, and 60 reeds to tune... Its no wonder there isn't much of a home build scene!
Piano accordions seem to suffer particularly from people playing half ass versions of unsuitable tunes as fast as possible. With the right repertoire and for some reason especially the button instruments it's another matter, so long as you're into the styles.
