Welcome Aboard. Feel free to start a diary and share your vids here. I personally like pics, but vids are cool too.
Interesting user name, don't suppose 'o7 CMDR' means anything to you? Or are you a fan of snakes/missiles.
Welcome aboard!
Welcome to the forum!
Thanks for the welcome. I lived in the Sonoran desert in Arizona for 35 years and have had to remove numerous Sidewinders from my yard. I always thought the name was cool and I started a Youtube channel under that name where I have decided to post the videos of various guitar builds.
If interested here it is. I already have my next two kits picked out and both are from Pitbull.

There will be two more videos in this series once the special order paint arrives.
Hi and welcome.
Elite Dangerous looks really good. Reminds me of Freespace. But I must resist, don't have time to get drawn into something like that. I only just got over a renewed modded Minecraft phase. I would never finish my tele if I get a new game...
And hi Sidewinder. Welcome to the forum.
Dans onto it, common in game greeting for Elite Dangerous, and the ship you start with is a Sidewinder (a lot of them are named after snakes) I've been playing Elite since the late 80's/Early 90's Mostly Elite 2 Frontier on the old Amiga 500. I backed the Kickstarted for Dangerous and really enjoy it, I don't get enough time in it to grind up to the bigger ships, but I have a good setup that is enough for dropping in for an hour and killing some pirates.
Welcome to the forum Sidewinder.
The special order paint finally shipped yesterday. I'm using a 2 part "High Impact" automotive paint and finding it in anything other than 1 gallon quantities was hard but I did find a small company out of Louisiana that provides it in 12oz spray cans.
Welcome Sidewinder
Welcome along Sidewinder. Great to have you on board.
Thanks,
I much prefer forums to things like Twitter. That platform can be a complete cesspool and sometimes Facebook is not far behind.
Hail Sidewinder, You tube post yet ?
Here is where I am posting the videos.

The paint arrived yesterday and I will be painting it this weekend as along as the weather cooperates. I did a quick test on a piece of pine I had laying around and the paint is even brighter than I expected. Once I apply 7-8 coats of high gloss lacquer and polish, it might be too bright to even look at without eye-protection.
I have not applied the high gloss lacquer yet.
I love that colour Sidewinder. It'll be amazing with the clear coats on.

I hope to have this completed sometime next weekend. I'll post the final video for the build on my YouTube channel. .
The color is Synergy Green and is a super fine metallic. It's much brighter in person. Photos just do not do this color justice.
That is vibrant!
I see you painted the headstock. Have you painted the whole neck, or just the front of the headstock?
The whole thing. After sanding and polishing I'll remove the gloss from the back of the neck like My Schecter Hellraiser Hybrid.
I have an even bolder color in mind for the V I'm doing next.
Paint and polish is done. I started to install the goodies; tuners, trem, and mount the pickups. Tomorrow I'll get the wiring completed and start making noise. Hopefully this weekend I'll get the last two videos posted to my YouTube channel.
It's done. It is in tune and makes noise so progress has been made.
I do have to do a bit of refinement. I have some tools that have not arrived yet to polish the inside curves and I don't have my neck straight edge yet. I absolutely have to change the switch and volume pot. They are both total junk. I was certain they would be but gave them a try. I should have just went with my initial instinct on them.
One final item is the fret board. This kit was made during the Rosewood ban and this is some form of "engineered rosewood" which I believe is probably recycled plastic. I think it will be OK once it is thoroughly buffed and polished.
The final two videos will hopefully be posted to my channel this week. I will pit a link into the correct board on the forum once I'm done.
