TL-1 Faded Black + Top Purfling

Hi, this is my first Kit guitar build. I really liked this one, it's a pretty good product, thanks, Pitbull!

My plan was to build a different style of Tele than I decided to make a top purfling. The only way that could ensure precision and the impeccable result is doing a routing template. To keep a low budget in this project, every tool and resources was took from whatever it was available at that time (ex: a piece of plywood from a building next my door for templates).

Shaping the headstock, I tried something similar a Fender design (for me, suits perfectly)

Staining time! My first time ever. I should try a stain based on water next time. I choose the black stump by Dingo Tone, very good stain by the way, but It was hard to get the faded effect.

The next step was pouring the canal. Based on my experience with resin which is a fantastic material due it's flexibility and beautiful colors available, I decided to use epoxy resin mixtured with deep blue pearl powder. Looks fantastic!!

After 24h approximately, it's time to prepare the body and the top pouring with clear resin. It's a very delicate process, due to restrictions at this time, without an incubator it was very dangerous to keep the resin drying without contamination, luckly my "tent" works well!!

Did an epoxy top similar and ended up with a bit of a reverse meniscus on the taped edges that needed to be filed flatter which
wasn't fun in the centre of the guitar.
I used a piece of 100 x 400 x20mm piece of flat pine and full sheet of 600 wet and dry to bring down to the main level in one hit and then move up normally to get fully flat. Took awhile but comes up a good result

Backside view, stained with coffee and tru oil. I did not like the bright color of this ash, so I decided to stain with something different and cheap. Forgive me about ferrules, they are little bit misaligned (drilled without table drill bench).

Really deep and clear finish. My wife chooses those color match (faded black + deep blue purfle). The pickguard was made by hand using 4 layers of 2 species of Australian wood (don't remember wich was).

Tonerider Vintage Telecaster set sounds good with Gotoh BS TC-2.

Cool! do you have pictures?
Epoxy resin it's a little bit tricky but, most of the time it's worth the effort. The sense of depth is unique, it will bring life whatever the wood that you aplly.

Not a lot of photos of the process but in this diary. Took awhile to get flat but nice and smooth.
