RC-4 Stuarts project
WUDTone on order--Black Magic Woman for body, Dark Onyx for nech.
Prepping body @180 grit. Couple of 1mm deep dints that cant be sanded out, but wudtone grain filler should sort that.
Back and front sanded ok. sides are a pain with grain all over the place where boards have been glued together.
Few issues with "scratches" of "cracks" across the grain on the sides that absolutely will not sand out, must be deeper than they look and be flaw in the original wood. Learnt to not even try and sand them out. Hope it doesn't look too bad

Think you may have to sand more....Wudtone recommend sanding to a 250 grit finish before staining?
-
Talked direct to Andy at wudtone, he recommended 180 on basswood for when using BMW. 250 on neck for Dark Onyx

He's been good giving me advice too mate, I'm new into all this too, the one I'm doing now is a mahogony body so was 240, sorry I didn't realise there was a difference sanding woods, I know now ready for another kit..... good luck with the build

Ta, its going to be a learning curve

I would say you could steam those dings out. Worth a shot anyhow. I use a damp paper towel and a soldering iron.

The 1st shot of end grain looks like some filler was used to hide a machining error perhaps? Binding makes it hard to sand off and round out that section without some part dropping below sea level so to speak.

There are about 10 instances of this. They must be deep as they wont sand out (you can see suvature on the picture where I have attempted it on one. They may be natural cracks that have been filled. They will have to stay, they may add character lol
