JBA-4M: "Gloria"

Here's the first entry of my next build. It's an ash body Jazz bass, with a maple fingerboard.

Finish is going to be a blue/green burst with a white pearloid scratch plate. Possible mods are a set of Entwistle JBX Neodymium pickups, and a high-mass bridge unit.

I notice that the pre-drilled holes for the machine heads are out of alignment with the nut. I am going to get these filled and re-drilled as opposed to regrooving/replacing the nut. Anyone know if there are maple blanks available to plug these holes?

BG, the easiest workaround would be to adjust the headstock to suit the holes.

If I leave the holes where they are, the break angle of the strings will not be straight. Recutting the nut won't work as it'll play with the fingerboard string spacing. Plugs are the way to go in this instance.

perhaps if you trim to shape, you can make plugs from the off cuts?

In fact - I may have a sheet of maple veneer spare here - if you're interested - I work in the city - could bring a sheet in to work this week. Depends where you are based & if I can get it to you.
