Lol....fair enough, hang on a sec and I'll get a pic done.
Okay here we go, this is a pic of the body with the neck loosely in place in it's socket and the gold bridge, jackplate, and scratchplate in their respective positions:

you can't tease the forum and not back it up with a photo Doc !
That's true, and since I'm a man of my word I did the honorable thing and posted a pic for everyone to check out.
I'm going to be ordering some bits and pieces for my guitar from Real Tone Music later on tonight, amongst the bits and pieces are going to be a set of three gold strat-knobs and a gold pickup-selector knob, I'm also going to be ordering the new pickups from Pitbull Guitars too.
looks awesome Doc, is that the plain white pickguard ? can't see any pearloid
hell yeah Doc, so what pups are going in again, are the covers white or black ?
I'm going to be ordering a set of ASN57 pickups this time, I found that the AS57 pickups were way too noisy (hummy) for my liking although I did like the tone, also one of the AS57 pickups (the bridge one) went faulty, the ASN57 pickups have white covers on them.
The ASN57 is the noiseless version of the AS57 so there shouldn't be a noticeable change in the sound, it'll make the guitar more usable in a recording or live situation, which is one of the reasons I decided to buy the kit in the first place.
I like the way its coming along Doc
Yay! :p you and DB are too good to me! Thanks guys ;)
Ahh, that would cost a bit! And sorting out logistics isn't the greatest of fun... That's going to be my job when the move comes haha
It's come up real nice! The grain pops real nicely too! Looking like an excellent build doc!!
No worries ShazzRandom, I'm going to have to work out a budget for the move, and yeah the logistics of it will give me a headache I'm sure, since I'm a Virgo, I'll have to put my Virgo organizational skills to good use when it comes to getting organized to do the move although I don't see it happening very soon.
I'm very stoked and psyched how the grain popped so nicely for me, and I totally get what Wokka was suggesting with the Ebony Timbermate, it's such a simple technique but very effective, see I learnt a new set of skills.
Dayum Son!
As I already said... Awesome sauce! :)
Only one question though, why the #*%* would you want to move to Cairns????
A good mate of mine lives there, plus the neighborhood where I live is not a very nice place to live, people have been stabbed and killed where I live, no joke, there's also been suicides too, not only that there's also drug dealers where I live, I'm scared to go out my front door barefoot in case I catch a serious disease from all the rubbish the other tenants leave around, together with all the broken glass.
Ah, here we go, I can see where this is going...lol.
Looking great Doc! Love that colour and the ebony timbermate has worked a treat.

There's lots of places that are apparently in Queensland

Yep, my personal health and safety, alot of the tenants living where I live are Aboriginal, they are the ones who cause the most trouble around where I live, on the very night I moved in I had to call the Police something like 12 times in a row because of all the trouble, I had one guy living in a flat above me deciding to have a domestic every night at odd times like 2:40am in the morning when I was trying to get to sleep, I tried telling him to keep the noise down but he just swore at me, so I ended up putting in numerous complaints about him to Territory Housing and it was only about the middle of last year when he was formally evicted, I've also had to put up with Aboriginal people humbugging me for things at strange hours at night, again when I was trying to get to sleep, we get itinerant Aboriginal people sleeping on the balcony outside my front door, one was sleeping right in front of my door and I couldn't get out so I could go buy some food for me and my cats, I felt like kicking the door down and walking all over the itinerant with spiked steel caps just to teach them a lesson but I knew I'd get myself into trouble with the Police.
The Darwin Police don't really do much to control the troublemakers here in Darwin.
I've also had threats of physical violence made against me too, with no provocation, all I did was to tell the person not to start any trouble or I'd ring the Police, they threatened to hit me, and yes they were Aboriginal too, more to the point, they didn't live in the blocks where I live so they were trespassing.
A former friend of mine ripped half the security grating off my front door and tried to accuse me of stealing something from him which I never did, so I ended up having to get my front door boarded up, turns out my former friend had a history of stealing things and a drug habit, he was on Ice at the time he ripped the security screen half off my front door.
I've also had two Half-Caste Aboriginals punch and kick me to the ground near the Rapid Creek Bridge in Nightcliff, they tried to rob me of $5.00 measly dollars but they never got it, I ended up with a lacerated face and was scared to walk at night for a few years, I'm still a bit wary nowadays, I never did get any justice for that even though I reported it to the Police.
The real Darwin is nothing like the rosy coloured picture they portray in TV ads, it's a horrible place.
Man oh man... Thats really sad..
I was a tennant with ACT Housing for a while when my life took a bad turn health wise (my back gave out and I was also diagnosed with MS.. Thankfully that was a mis diagnosis) and the so called quiet neighbourhood they placed me in became a nightmare six months after I moved in.
At the start, there was a mix of the Elderly and those of us who's health required a quiet no stress place to live.
Then housing decided to move a teenager into the unit directly behind me.
Well, that worked well...
First night the noise and anti social behaviour was so bad that even after four visits from the Constabulary it continued.
In the end, out of concern for the 90 year old lady who lived next to the ratbag, I called in the boys.....
We then had a quiet few days before housing came around threatening to evict me and my nextdoor neighbour for disruptive and agressive behaviour.
Man did I let fly at the housing manager! Poor bastard never came back.
Anyhoo, in the end I was lucky to meet a wonderful woman and I moved to Perth, so a move away from the shit will do your health and well being good.
I hope you can move soon.
Hope so too mate, I might give Darwin a few more years while I sort out a few things before I end up doing the move to Cairns, a mate of mine, who runs a recording studio, wants me to do some work on a 28Ch Soundcraft Mixing desk that used to belong to Yothu Yindi, a very well known Indigenous Rock Band, the work involves doing some servicing work on the mixer.
I'm guessing that person you met is Miss Fe, she sounds like a pretty nice person, how is she doing by the way?, hope she's been doing well mate.
Good job on the grain popping, Doc! It's looking fantastic, we'll see how much better it gets with the final coats.
I know how you must be frustrated with your neighbours, my line of work often crosses with the problems you are experiencing.
Cheers Swanny, good to know I'm not the only one experiencing those problems.
Hopefully I'll get a chance to apply the intensifier coat tomorrow if the stain is dry enough, I'm guessing that maybe next week I'll be ready to apply the final coat/s to the guitar body, might see if I can apply one more final coat to the neck tomorrow.
Just so you guys know, because the DC adapter socket on my laptop has failed I'm not able to re-charge the battery in my laptop until the socket is fixed, since my laptop is the only device that can connect to my Samsung Galaxy Y Phone by Bluetooth, I'm currently unable to upload any more pics of my build to my thread, however, I am able to get online with my Desktop PC so I will be able to keep you guys updated, my Desktop PC doesn't have Bluetooth.
I suppose I could pop up to the Winnellie Post Office and see if I could buy a new Digital Camera, that would sort things out so I could post pics again.
no sweat Doc, you can always download pics from your phone to desktop PC via USB cable
Doc try plugging your phone in to the desktop, it should recognise it as a USB device, shouldn't need a driver
no sweat Doc, the only other method I can think if the pics on the phone are on an external memory card you could put the card in a card reader or other compatible device.
Or if your phone has an email app email the photos to an email address accessible to the desktop PC
anyway no big deal, when is the next gold coat happening ?
I could send the pic via email but my Galaxy Y phone has no credit on it, I think what I'll do is wait till the rain stops and see if I can go buy a new Digital Camera from the Winnellie Post Office, I've been meaning to buy a new one anyway.
Next coat (intensifier) is going on this afternoon.
no worries Doc, sounds good, how many stain coats did you apply ? I'd go for 2 or 3 stain coats before the intensifying coats. Get that gold nice and rich colour
I think I put about 2 or 3 stain coats on the body, my memory's a bit hazy, it probably won't matter too much since the intensifier coat will intensify the colour, the colour looks pretty intense as it is.
If I applied another two coats of stain to the body today then I'll need to wait another 48Hrs till the coats dry in order to then apply the intensifier.
Do you reckon I should apply two more coats of CG stain?
