Interestingly those same materials are what get used in a lot of custom knives
it is amazing stuff Zandit it is taking craftmanship to a new level for sure. Would hate to know how many hours goes into building one of those beautiful acoustics !
Yeah, some of these builders are punching out only 4 or 5 builds a year, and their books are full for the next several years.
I'd also hate to see what the prices are for these guitars too!
One guy that I saw interviewed said he started building a particular style of guitar that was based on an old Martin design, and that is all he does. When he started, he would spend about 100hrs on each guitar. Now that he's been doing it for so long, he was asked what kind of time it is taking him now, his answer was approx 250hrs!!
Some of these guys have specialists that they bring in for certain aspects of the job. They may use jewelers for the intricate inlays, but they will also ship the guitar off to be finished by someone else. Someone who specialises in getting that perfect glassy finish, or a super thin lacquered coating. This process as you know from the electric guitars can take months, but that's all he does!
When I have the cash, I want to attend an acoustic guitar building course with this guy... http://thomaslloydguitarstlg.com.au/about.html
$4k, and two solid weeks of work, and you walk out with your own custom built guitar. Check out his instagram account in the top right corner. SOme beautiful guitars amongst his collection, and students.
There is a guy on the gold coast that does similar course and prices. Can't remember his name atm
Lush!.....

Legend states that he viewed the electric guitar as an abomination, asking the question "Who ever heard of an electric violin? Whoever heard of an electric cello or for that matter an electric singer.
because electric violin

Thanks for the explanation FW, most appreciated. Guess I've led a sheltered life. When I think Nylon String guitars, I think beginners guitars.
A couple of not so well known PRS-a-likes.

Fican guitars are just up the road from me, not dropped in on them yet because they really don't fall into my zone of consciousness but they do have some pretty useful players using them.
Styling isn't quite to my taste either
Thats some crazy stuff. I don't mind the timber and CF one, but then I like those Yamaha and Vox "air" guitars, those last 2 are even beyond me LOL crazy hardware too
Those are all spectacular! I especially like the first one, it looks like it could fold up or expand somehow. really great stuff Zandit, thanks for posting.
Rick Toone, the mad professor.
You mean the Yamaha Silent Guitar? I'd have one of those in a second!

from Deke Dickinson, not sure if it's beautiful or just unusual.Attachment 12564
Not sure if this is beautiful, but it certainly hits the unusual.
3D printed electric guitar!

wow that's bizaar Zandit, reckon it would weigh less than a paulownia LP !
Undeniably unusual and interesting, but I'm not a fan. They sound like turds too unfortunately.
