Got the major assembly stuff done today. Few more things to do including wiring. I've just chucked the kit strings loosely on to see how it looks. I appear to have been a bit too paranoid with my high 'e' alignment, I've given myself probably an extra mm on that side. I think it'll be OK and I'm probably lucky it's not worse considering the bodge. I gave it a quick polish, bit it doesn't seem worth going for a showroom finish. If it goes a year without cracking I might pull it apart and give it a proper cut.
Oh I also decided the speed knobs were too big so I went to Jaycar and got some smaller black aluminum ones.
Overall, considering the many stuff ups and general slap dash approach, I'm pretty happy with the result. I'll be interested to see how it plays after electrics and the setup are done.

I think I can see myself re visiting the Flying V in a future build done to a higher standard, It's turned out pretty cool style wise.

Thanks man. It's satisfying seeing this build near completion, for a time I thought I'd just end up abandoning it.
It really goes to show that there is almost nothing that can't be fixed or got around if you are willing to have a crack.
I learnt a tonne doing this one. There will be a bit of a break before the next one, but I'm aiming to do a very high level fully scratch built original design, hopefully I've got all the bodge out of my system for a bit.

Ok it's all together. Quick fret level and setup and it's very respectable! It sounds and plays better than it has any right to.
Some more pics and a quick dirty demo. I need a better mic for the amp, but you'll get the gist. Just straight into the Orange rumble, via a DS-1. Nice and simple. Its' surprisingly comfortable, certainly one of my lighter guitars.

Looks great, sounds great. I'd call that a successful experiment. Must feel great to have learned so much along the way and to get a killer end result.
