Mention beer and they come out of the woodwork :p
I went out this morning to the body only to witness seperation on the small crack i have been trying to repair, so i went and got me a Minwax stick, went and checked before and all good, what a great little touch up tool
heres what i was up against

I have used the stick x2 today on this small spot and 2 other small spots, i will take a pic later when i am finished but the results so far have been very good.
I will take it right back and Timbermate again before i finish the body as this stuff is wax it may not hold the finish unless i clean it right up.
Today after doing some paving i decided to finish the back of the guitar off, pretty happy with it, its not perfect, but then again its not a $3000 guitar, it will do the job and look ok. In hindsite i am too much of a perfectionist with my work and have spent too much time getting the finish right to still end up with a few cosmetic flaws, it wont bother me at the end of the day, i just call them character marks
I had some lighter color stain left over from the back, so decided to attack the neck with it, its lighter than what i will use. Wipe on a a bit of colour tint and you see old Mr Magloo rear his ugly head.
Neck still wet looks orange, now i know how to do an orange if i want haha

Mr MaGloo

Wet stain, its going to look alright i think when i darken it up.
Attachment 8478
looks good Tony, so you will match the colour of the back of the body ?
Yeh Wok a dark red mahogany, the headstock has nothing done yet, tossing coins on flat black or the same as the rest of the neck.
The top i am thinking darkish cherry red in the middle, red mahogany blend in then a black border, might be getting ahead of myself.
Next guitar will be a simple Daphne Blue....
Went to buy some pavers today and went to Carbartec, i was sure they had pavers :p
Anyway ended up with some bench cookies and XL risers, i have been wanting these for a while, great for doing wiring etc.

Cookies
keeps the guitar nice and stable

Jack her up
Attachment 8481
50,000k service, already putting these things to good use
Attachment 8482
And waiting on these Bench Cookie Cones, great for when your doing a finish one side and dont want to damage the other side you've already done, they fit onto the bench cookies
Attachment 8483
Sorry dear i forgot the pavers
those cookies are a cool idea Tony. Wouldn't want the axe resting on those cone fittings unless they rest in cavities ? Might damage the body
I was chatting to a luthier who was using them, he said he hasnt had a finish scratching problem yet, apparently designed not to harm the finish at all, i will try them on one of my poocasters i experiment on throw it around on them a bit, they are only a few $$ if the dont work out.
They are based on the painters pyramid, that dont mark the surface.
Heres the blurb on them
Rockler Bench CookieŽ Finishing Cones lift your project off your bench with minimal surface contact, keeping it stable during the entire finishing process! Custom sized to fit snugly over the incredibly popular Rockler Bench CookieŽ
Coming along nicely now, still have a little bit of Mr Magloo but got alot of it
Have darkened up the colour a bit now.

Oh Magloo you done it again

Dont use those thin plastic gloves with that Goof Off stuff, i couldnt find my thick industrial ones and used them instead, the stuff eats holes in them, silly me, too early in the morning wasnt thinking.
