Just a couple of quick questions for the group, what's the go with Tru-oil?
Is it a neutral colour that can go on any tone of stain? ..or are there different colours etc??
Do our guitars need a finishing oil after using Dingo tone fishing coat?
What are the advantages of using Tru-oil eg. how do you lose out by not applying a finnish oil?
No politially correct answers please, just give me the truth as you see it.. we're all grown ups here (as far as I'm aware at least lol)
Tru oil doesnt need any finishing oils, i think my guitar was done at 14 coats.
It is neutral, but any stain is going to darken the timber a little. TO didnt darken much at all, Poly U is popping my build and making it darker.
What i started with
Attachment 9210
Final 14th coat still wet
Attachment 9211
Finished
Attachment 9212
Hugh you've done a great job with the Dingotone. Well done for someone's first guitar build so far your rocking it. Look forward to seeing it all built and finished. Don't rush it. That spalt is looking amazing.

Wow Tony!! 14 coats?? You obviously put some work into it mate.. It does look great though.. Did you use anything else on it or just the tru oil?
Just TO and timbermate and some Birchwood Casey sealing filler between the 1st few hits.
I have it all logged somwhere
Yeah it's great the first time you plug it I and bring her to life. I don't think this will be your last build Hugh lol.
Hugh the tru oil can go over any stain colour. I presume you are asking questions do you want a higher gloss than the DT clear ?
There's a chance the TO may go yellow over time, I have some builds about 3 years old with TO and they look the same as they did day 1.
Generally it the colour will go slightly yellow with a few coats of TO but will look great on your LP
Spectacular awesome stain and spalt. Note to self add something spalted to my list of future projects...
