This is what we're dealing with, this is the stock bridge pushed up hard against the north side of the trem cavity, with a measurement of 332.3.
As you can see it's clearly falling short on the bridge end.

no worries Barge, I've got a mates ST-1M build on the go at the moment so I'll check the scale length of that and post distances tonight. Whats the nut to 12th fret distance again (can't read it in the small photos)? I always mix up the F and G type scales
Very, very nice Bargey! Loving the red!
Cheers man, that's Nullarbor Ochre believe it or not, pretty red huh???
so a difference of about 12mm further 12th to bridge Barge, presume thats to the heavy E string saddle ?
thats odd and way too much. I'll check tonight.
Is that a GMC wood lathe in the background of one of your earlier pics ? I got one stashed in the shed I haven't fired up yet
Hey Barge , I love strats ,but love what you've done with the shape looks fantastic . I was going to type earlier but been too busy reading your build. Well done looks great. The veneer, binding all looking the mutts nuts. What router did you use Barge ,it looks like the Ryobi one made by AEG. I'll have to ask Craig if he could make me some clear router base plates . Keep up the great work .youve been quiet for a time ,took it you were laying down some new tracks. Keep up the great work love it .
no worries Barge, well looks like you got to move the bridge closer to the bottom of the guard, hope there's a workaround or you may need to plug the holes and re-drill the pivot holes closer.
I got some wood lathe chisels, keen to fire up the lathe one day, haven't found a reason yet to cut any round objects yet
I cheers man. To be honest the build wasn't really working out the way I'd planned and I was getting dejected so I gave it a break for a bit and concentrated on the some music.
I'm liking where it's headed now though, although I'm not looking forward to having to re-rout shit at this stage of the game.
That router is a "Rok" it was pretty cheap but seems to serve it's purpose. I would definitely rec those clear router bases, it makes it soooo much easier.
Just to change the subject, here's my latest mix/master effort for the new album Kimball, see what you reckon...

track sounds great Barge, you really got the mix sussed
Hey Barge , just listened to Butterfly Lace
Strong vocals and backing vocals sit nicely in the mix love the guitars .Are you happy for me to give you my honest opinions., as in truth I don't want to offend Barge, couple of areas I think this strong track could be made even better. Not hearing much bass on the track if any but listening currently on iPad as travelling , so not best enviroment. The drums aren't gluing it together are they loops.
If you have the drums in midi file if you'd like send it me and I'll put some drums on for you . As I have just bought Steven Slates Blackbird Drums will give me opportunity to test them out . Did you get yourself an Ilok if you did Slate digital now has two free items in his Virtual Mixing Rack
Offend me? Nah I thrive off feedback, I love hearing ways to improve my stuff man. How can we improve if we can't accept criticism?
When you say "bass" do you mean the bass guitar or just the bottom end in general?
Totally agree about those drums, I just program them within my DAW and you're right, they DO lack that certain quality that only live drums can give. I'd be more than happy for you to throw some on there Kimball, that'd be awesome mate.
I'll PM you a link with a drumless mix as well as a drum take on it's own, is that cool?
Barge the last two tracks that I've listened too are really good buddy . Bass as Bass guitar I couldn't hear it but then again I'm on train so as said not best enviroment . Yeah send them Barge . If you have midi data for drums always helps to send them also.some notes as to levels you'd like and format you'd like saved in
Kimball
P.s Butterfly Lace the ending kind of breaks up the track is that something your keen on Barge . It's only my opinion But it took me away from the track So now you have two tracks to go on an Ep or build your album
Haven't really got any midi data as such, I just program the drums from within the step sequencer of my DAW using drum sample packs that I've collected.
I'll send you a bass gat track separate so you can play round with it in the mix maybe.
Whereabouts are you referring to in regards to the ending Kimball, after the 2nd chorus? What are your thoughts man, how can we fix it?
3.10 end of song either suggest you leave that out or don't cut it off maybe delay reverb so it has more of. Trail
I'm with ya, yeah sweet.
Hey Barge. I measured a current same kit and nut to 12th fret 323mm. With Bridge butt up to the guard and saddle settings out of the box 12th fret to low E saddle was 325mm and high E was 323mm so spot on. Have plenty of room to move the saddles further away
Yeah well I'm looking at 330 from 12th to saddle so there goes my new bridge. Just to top it off I went to enlarge the cavity last night only to discover I can't get the rabbiting bit out the router GRRRRRRR.
I didn't even bother checking scale length when I first un-boxed it thinking everything should be cool, but this has turned out to be a real prick this far along in the build.
Are the saddles wound forward Barge? I noticed the supplied bridges have changed
so no joy with the stock bridge Barge ? I'll check the measurements of mine, say from start of neck pocket to the start of the cavity to confirm. Unless your neck pocket is too short and giving a higher distance.
I've never had this problem on every one of the 24,000 ST kits I've built
ok Barge I'll check tonight the distance. Which part of the neck pocket are you measuring from, where the neck heel butts up to ?
ok cool if I remember I'll post the distance of my kits tonight. Lets hope it's the same.
Hey Barge I only just saw this. Is this a faulty kit? Maybe we can send you another body? Looks like you put a lot of work into it.

Aw, man. :(
Oh dear :(
Aw Barge that sux. After all the work you have put in it. I had been following this build very closely, tough one man.
I know the kits are only about $150 but its hard not to get personally attached after that much work.
rob
Sad news, that is seriously ungood
Condolences Bargey. That sucks man.
cheers,
Gav.
Wow Nige that's such a shame dude , take a big deep breath take it out the bin . And a solution will come.
Looks like Adams on the ball.
absolutely gutting, surely you could plug the trem hole then get hold of a bridge with a larger footprint to cover it up?
That is really awful Bargy.
Great to see Adam's rescue offer though - Pitbull rocks.
Could you possibly salvage something by making a coffee table "a la Wokka" or a wall hanging "a la moi?"
I couldn't bear to actually bin it myself - even in a state of high dudgeon.
Argh dangit, that would have been a very cool kit if there wasn't a nice large gaping hole... Planning to rebuild it though Nige?
Also that service from Adam is not found anywhere else, always good to have service like that!
I'd personally get some scrap wood and plug it, then veneer over the top.
The blunt dryness of "that's a wrap" gave me a bit of a chuckle.
Sucks that your work ended up that way.
Understandable, bro. On the bright side, you have a neck and bits and pieces to start a scratchie....eh? Wouldn't be much more work than you put into this.
that sucks Bargie. New project will help you get over it!
