my prob was the opposite Waz, the strings were flat on the frets, they needed to go up. Fretting the first fret resulted in a "thunk"

Strange indeed. Same idea should work both ways, at least in theory as I have never had to test it out for a convex bow.
You could fill the numbers and knob descriptors on the volume/tone knobs with dark grey paint. Just light enough to read but nearly black.
And I hope whatever logo you decide on, it's going to be black on black.
here she is all done, not as black as Simon had predicted/encouraged but fits in with my other 2 ( YES I only own 2 other black ones!)black guitars. The neck is slowly but surely giving in, hope I can lower the bridge in a few days. Sounds OK, but I still prefer the Surfmaster.

Nice black....very black. 😎
nice one Deddy how does it sound and play ?
mmm simple clean Black. I like it.
Wokka, I still need to get the neck a bit flatter but it's getting there. At the moment I have the bridge adjuster set pretty high so the action isn't great and is a bit high over the picks ups. Hopefully another week of little adjustments and string tension will get the neck sorted.
sounds good Deddy, you are pumping out axes at a high GAS rate ! Maybe it's time to have a chat with a councillor at the GAS lounge ? haha bit rich coming from me ! PS I am the councillor haha
it all began one day a year ago.........................................
