The different body pieces are blending nicely with that stain and finish. Coming along nicely Waz.
Looking good Waz. That body is gonna pop with a bit of hardware.
cheers,
Gav.
Thanks Guys, can't wait to do another mock build after next couple of coats
Loving that dark wood look Waz
Cheers Cade.
4 different planks of wood were used to create the body and other than a solid colour this is about the best idea I could come up with. It was almost going to be an all over black fountain pen ink stained job and feel this chemical wash has given it a bit more character.
Always a surprise in every build when you lay down the initial stain coat as you never quite know what colour the underlying timber will bring.
That's a very nice result!
Your not wrong Waz. I'd be a happy man with that tone, it's come out with some character. Glad you didn't black it over before trying something different! ( Not that a black guitar isn't a great guitar! )
No photos to show today's progress but it is now ready for the final polish.
Neck was easy but fairly thin coats on the headstock so will have to be very careful that I don't polish off the logo.
Body had a few grain contour lines that required wet sanding with 1500, then 2000 before using the micro mesh pads and it now feels as smooth as a piece of glass. Hoping to polish it and install hardware over the weekend, and with a bit of luck maybe wire it up and make some noise?
Progress shots showing where things are at awaiting final curing time to elapse before commencing the final polishing.

Lower left corners may be showing some reflection off the garage floor and definitely not in the finish.
