Hey Andy,

I would second any suggestion of investing in some Colortone from Stewmac. I bought some 2 years ago and the bottles are still going strong after over 10 builds. They are also really nice to blend and you can control the concentration perfectly. Black colortone may even cover your side plug sufficiently with a couple of coats without the need to spray (which will be difficuly to blend with the top). She's looking good anyway. I recokon one of these axes with a burst is going to look awesome, so keeping your build subscribed for updates!

Wazkelly kindly hooked me up with some left over outback sunburst, colortone mahogany etc. so I'm hoping they blend with each other and either the F&W black or black ink.:confused:

Havin' some issues with colours at the moment. Its back to R&D. In the meantime....listening to Bonamassa and doin some humbucker work.

Thanks Gav, yeah its a guitar I've always wanted. I'm trying to keep it low cost and and close to stock as possible.

I made a shim for the Alnico5 magnets out of paddle pop sticks from a $2.00 store. It fits perfectly after a bit of fashioning. I tried maple from a headstock off cut but it was too hard to get the right dimensions and consistency in height. The A5 really needs a shim, the bobbin without the screws is perched on the inside by the magnet and on the outside by two plastic poles. Its too unstable otherwise.

I then wax potted my new PBG Alnico 5 Humbuckers with 80% parafin and 20% beeswax in a crock pot from the 70's!!!!
