Nice looking Ric copy dave.lee2003 i like it alot.
Beautiful bass. How does it handle and what is the sound like? Was going to be a future investment and was just wondering if I should move it up my list.
nice Riccy bass copy Dave Lee, bummer it's going to be another tough month to judge - we say this every month but this month has a great collection of axes
The necks great, has a nice variety if tones to it - I replaced the "stock" pickups with a set of "HyGain"s from retrovibe.co.uk - did a quick demo on youtube (link in my RCA-4 thread) - took a bit of judicious routing. The original pickups sound great but I wanted it to be a bit more Ric like. Only thing to watch is theyd either cut the neck pocket too deep or heel of the neck too shallow - dont make the schoolboy error I did and find out after the glue has set!

Saw video and sounds great. Had same problem with my guitar but had same error with an SG kit and only found out after I glued it in. Had to heat body up and melt glue and had to glue in a piece of wood and reshape to give the correct height to allow bridge to fit. After that experience I always check and I don't think I have ever had a kit that didn't need some tweaking. Each kit I make I learn more and more. Great hobby.
Here is my build. It has been great fun.

Some info.
TL-1R
No upgrades - except for addition of some Ernie Ball straplocks. Otherwise out of box as received fom Pitbull.
BODY = 1Coat Dingotone Nullabor Ochre, 1 coat intensifier, 4 topcoats. Then Dingowax.
NECK - Started with the colourless Dingotone neck finish but topcoats were very patchy, so sanded back until even and applied an acrylic finish - result has lovely smooth satin feel.
Decal is anagram. Decal was ordered from Rothko and Frost.
Fretboard finished with lemon oil.
After months of work, here is my beauty - the GR-1SF.
My first build and what a cracker of a time I have had!
Most parts are box stock, changes include:
Roller bridge, wire and pots - that's it
I customised the pick guard bracket to give the pick guard that Gretsch Falcon style lift. I also fashioned my own nut out of a piece of kangaroo bone my brothers dog failed to bury! The writing on the headstock is "Guitar" in Japanese.
I have used the Dingotone - Uluru Red with the clear top coat (DB makes a great product!). I have done a burst effect with a single tone. I am pretty happy with the result, though the pictures don't truly show it.
I will post a picture from before she was strung, in light that really shows it :)
I am in love!
Finally, here she is!

It's been awhile since my last visit on the forum but wow... Spectacular entries from everyone but I like Davey's Lemmy tribute and the "Dickywacker" the most. All and all brilliant stuff as always.
