Thanks Chuck & Simon for the idiot's guide to stringing an f-type bass! This idiot needed it I can tell you. I need to remove the strings to level the fretboard so I can now put them back with confidence! Given that most here *never* replace their bass strings, it'll be the last time I'll need to change them for quite a while ;).

Just need to add one more tip, Low E string does not need as much length as the post will barely hold 2 string width wraps, on the A it may be about the same or possibly 3 at a pinch, and with D & G plenty of room for 3 or more wraps. Once you get used to the 'String down the hole' method that end of a re-stringing job is so much easier and quicker.
