The other side looks like it will be OK. It is just the B that is 2 or 3 mm out of alignment.
I was thinking that as the washer and mechanism will cover it that I would cut the plug 1 or 1-1/2 mm shorter than the thickness.
I'll run a 10 mm drill through, by hand to clear and debris.
I'll use a rawhide hammer if I can, failing that a 8 or 9 mm drift from the back.
Then the clean up will only be glue that gets out. The tape is a good idea.
I'll be drilling it in a press so I hope the wander isn't too great.
I bet that 10 mm dowel pins only come in bags of 100 :)
