Great job with the Aussie oil Fred. I never thought of polishing it with the ultimate compound - that's a neat idea. To my mind, even though it's more labour intensive (you basically end up polishing nearly every coat) the end result is even better than TO and with fewer coats. Anyway your beast is really looking nice. There's something so nice about a simple natural finish over figured maple. Will be great to see her assembled!
cheers,
Gav.
Cheers guys.
@Gavin: I only thought of using the ultimate compound and scratch x 2.0 because I was polishing the headstock... I tired and it makes a big difference!
Otherwise I've been trying to install the electronics tonight. I soldered the pickups and tested them okay, then started trying to fit the pots in the body... until I realised that the 2x tone pots' ground connections via the shielding of the other cable had come loose...
I was trying to fix it, but I think I'm too tired, starting to get angry and keeping the warm soldering iron way too long around the pots...
So I leave it at that for now and will get back to it tomorrow with a fresh mind!
A pro result Fred, awesome
Was looking at the distributor for Aussie oil, and u-beaut polishes is just a few suburbs away from me, definitely going to try this, thanks Fred for using this haha ...
Okay, soldered it back together.
Let's try again!

And here we go, 11x temporary strings on (one got used to pull the Jack socket in place) and tuned!
Still have to glue the nut and fit the permanent strings and we'll be done!

Thats come up a treat Fred
I always check my wiring before i install, otherwise if it fails it leads to a tanty and choice words, but sometimes even after install and all my best efforts theres a no go
If i am having a moment i.e tired and a little sweary, i put everything away.
