@fret & mario Thanks lads!
@pabs Yeah mate, but I am loving this blue. I did quite a few tests and this one just caught my eye.
Next build (when I can afford it) will be a hollow body so maybe purple then :)

Had a bit of trouble with the stain on back/sides. Came out very patchy so I might try to find a stronger pigment to make it more uniform.
if it's patchy on the sides Nicko may need more coats. Some parts of the sides I find is a tighter grain and doesn't take the stain as well as other areas.
It's actually the opposite mate - the end grain is taking way more stain than the back! I'll post some pics tonight but sides are a lot darker in colour than the back
no worries Nicko, presume its basswood under the cap ?
I've had trouble getting an even coverage of stain on basswood, might pay to sand it back with a rougher paper to open the grain.
Will wait to see pics tonight

so that's how it's looking at the moment. That was with a concentrated water based dye thinned out a little bit in water.
I've just picked up some FW cedar because it looks a lot closer to what I'm after.
Still - what do you guys think of this colour on there now? I haven't sanded back yet
Hey Nicko I really dig the current colour, maybe you can darken it slightly. I've used FW cedar and its quite a deep red.
I think the current colour will suit the dark blue better. Maybe if you can please post a pic of the top and the sides to see the contrast
