Looking really good Kells ... its turned into a serious departure from your originally planned white but the way you're working that colour is choice! (just how I'd imagine a "Gretsch New Yorker" would look like - if such an animal existed!)
What are you going to finish it in? ... I reckon when you get to that point this baby's going to be crying out for a nice "aged yellow" clear coat finish to set-off the antique look of the colour.

Tks Scott.
At the moment I have been smearing a mixture of Lac bug and ethanol all over the neck and it is starting to get that nice aged amber affect on the exposed maple areas. With the body I'll probably put a few more coats of Tung oil into it before I look at glossing it up a bit.
I had a trail fit of the pickups yesterday and the rebate for the bridge pick up is too small to fit the screw tabs through.
I've ordered the headstock decals from Jojo in Japan, I've gone for an aged white pearl Gothic torch similar to the pic a few comments back.
I am looking to get a fish eye truss rod cover with my name on it, but atm it's about $30 to get one through fleaceBay.
Cheers PK

Tks Kimbal,
they are the ones that cost about $30 on fleabay LOL
I'll have to ask them what the shipping cost is if I buy from their web site. $14.99USD = $19.21AUS + $7.89AUS postage. $28.10(close enuff to $30)

Yellowing the headstock
I'm pretty happy with the headstock. the shellac has given it that aged light Amber look.
The back of the neck still has a little way to go, but is comming up nicely. I've had to deal with a few thin areas of the brown comming off and missed a couple of over runs of the shellac, but this stuff is so forgiving, it just rubs back with some metho

Hey PK, I've just had a look at all the pics in this build diary away from the microscopic viewing portal that is my phone - this is coming along nicely. I'm loving the vintage look you are obtaining and looking forward to seeing this all come together.

Hey PK, I totally forgot about this. Sorry. :(
Here's a 'quick' version. If you're interested, I'll tidy up the lines a bit more, round corners and bevel the edge etc.
