Binding 101 - Or, I hate Binding
It's been a while since I attacked this little beast. I have had some issues with the control cavity, the cap route finished 5 mm wider than my control cover, so have to make up a new one. The wiring is done with a pair of push pull pots. one pot is tone the other is Vol. the switch part of these pots just takes one of the pick ups out of circuit. So the front switch will disable the neck pup, while the tone switch will disable the bridge pup. Pull both switches out and your in standby.. no pups.
Anyway. I decided to do the binding, which I have been dreading for months. I watched the Vids from Maton on them doing binding on their EA80C acoustics. So I have followed their lead and used masking tape and Tite-bond glue.
Doing the binding on this build was really lesson 101 as it is a simple shape and easy to do. It is just a constant curve.
I applied the glue to the body in three segments. one side, then the back end, followed by the other side.
I taped the binding down starting at the neck slot. once I had half a dozen pieces of tape holding the glued section I rotated the work in the little Stanley Vice I am using to hold it(it has rubber jaws), I then applied glue to the next section. and taped it down. repeat this for the final section. I will leave this to dry for 2-3 days.
