Hi Gavin,
I originally thought that it was. After a lot of sanding {orbital and hand)it seemed more of an anomally than glue as it does have grain and the centre is a bit like a knot.
It looks lighter in the photo but definitely did not take up as much of the one coat of deep as the surrounding area.
Amazing quality guitars (and basses) - especially those 2 Les Pauls. Very nice.
Jarrod's airbrushing skills on the cards on the Tele are fantastic too! Great looking guitar!
Love the natural look
And the winner is...
Another very tough one to judge this month, we even had a few perfect 10's from Judges.
Anyhoo, in third place, we have Tony's ESP-1.

"A natural golden timber finish and simple black hardware combine to create a beautifully elegant guitar."
"I really like the finish on this guitar. Not too many of these being made so pleased to see this one in the comp. I think I might look at one of these myself seeing as Tony did such a good job on this one."
In second place, it's Phil's LP-1.

"Nicely put together, great looking guitar. The flamed maple top has been finished superbly."
"If I was looking for a classic finish for my LP this would be it.
It has that classic look of all those LP's from years gone-bye.
That beautiful Flame Top has been tastefully set off by the classic cream pickups, surrounds and gold knobs."
In first place... it's a tie again.
The judges could not separate Andy's JR-1DC and Jarrod's TL-1

JR-1DC:
"Oh my! simply superb. Love the headstocks as always. Oozes GAS appeal!"
"Simplicity taken to the ultimate degree with an awesome burst and impeccable finish.
So understated that it just screams to be picked up and played.
And topped off with Andy's usual amazing headstock and Logo."
TL-1
"Stunning work of art.
A totally professional looking guitar that could take pride of place in any guitar shop. You cannot help but be drawn to this guitar.
It has the WOW factor in Spades (Diamonds, Clubs and Hearts as well), a lay down Misere as a serious contender for GOTM."
"Lock this one away. Great idea followed up with a great finish. Certainly a guitar to be proud of."
Congrats to the winners and well down to everyone, there really wasn't many points separating the lowest and highest scores.
Well done all. I am repeatedly stunned and gratified by the quality of guitars being produced in this community. Please also let us hear them by posting a short vid or sound file! If I had to pick I'd be going the LP-1 or the JR-1DC, both fantastic looking guitars! (But that's not to say either of the other two aren't tasty, just that if I had to pick that's where I'd be going!)
Congrats to Andy and Jarrod, both are stunning guitars and very worthy joint winners. And, well done to all the other entrants, a high class month indeed. Hat tip to the judges for your efforts as well.
Wow I can't believe it. Thank you for your kind words and I don't quite know what to say. All the other contenders were such incredible looking guitars I honestly didn't think I would be in the running. So thank you to the judges and thanks for everyone's support and a big hat tip to everyone who entered this month , the quality as Glenn said is just outstanding.
Congrats to all entrants & winners :D .
The quality of builds & finishes has become almost unbelievably good.
How the judges are supposed to select the winners defeats me.
The only problem now is: how will mortals like myself manage to compete?
I'll second that Max. All of these guitars were outstanding.Quote:

It's not just the quality of finishes, but the thought and creativity in the choices that seems to make them stand out.
Well done to all entrants...great to see the final products and love watching them evolve in the build diaries.
Cheers
