I may even think about leaving the frets in your Hofner and not painting it pink......

Yeah, OK Brendan... the voice of reason in the wilderness... I here by declare that Gavin's Hofner shall keep her frets on and will not be painted pink.. How does Amaranthine with an Azure Lagoon burst sound?
Sounds Lily Allen!!
Who the heck is Lily Allen?
She's the drunk singer who told Elton John to ...well, check this out and hear for yourself!

I can imagine Gavin's face when he sees it with that burst....
Don't worry, Pest.
I will make sure there is a camera crew and body guards for my protection at the hand over :)
Lots of sanding today.... all the way to 400 grit..
Anyhoo, to break it up a little I did the headstock inlay.
http://pitbullguitars.com/wp-content...m-IMG_1837.JPG
You will notice a few things..
A slight gap around the edge of the inlay, this is deliberate as I want to highlight the out line with gold highlights.
Some tear out around the tuner holes... bugga... as it turns out, no biggie as the tuner bushings will cover this.
http://pitbullguitars.com/wp-content...1-IMG_1839.JPG
Note to self.. Don't forget to clamp a scrap piece of timber to the face plate when drilling holes...
Trial bolt up of neck and pup placements...

Oh wow!
This is looking really nice DB, can't wait to have a play. We actually discussed this baritone guitar at our rehearsal yesterday. We've got the song for this guitar!
Sounds good Adam. More than happy for you to give her a test run with the Coburn Sound 8-)Quote:

DB isn't that how the consumate tele napper works? Offer to give it a test run and then bam - has it's own place of honour next to all the other nabbed tele's... :)Quote:

Yes, that is the usual modus operendi... This time, however, the Jagitone will have a high tensile stainless steel chain attached to it and to me. :)
Db, that looks amazing!!!! I see you are a big fan of EMG pups???
No plans to run a couple of milli amps to the bridge with a hidden kill switch? Not sure the chain will be enough for this one - its going to be a beautiful guitar. :DQuote:

looking sweet DB,
yes that sounds like code that Adam wants to tele nap the Jag baritone ! You better up the size of the cable lock DB !
Hardware for the Baritone....
Schaller roller bridge and Steinberger gearless tuners.... Bliss!

Thank goodness you are documenting everything on this guitar! At least you will have the memories.....
I do quite like the EMG HZ for Bass, they have a nice rounded sound suitable for most styles of music.Quote:

This build is quite experimental and I am using the EMG to see if it will give this beastie a bit more bottom end grunt and growl 8-)
OK, a slight change of plans....
Took delivery of a FCH TOM system today, this is so going on the Jagitone!
http://pitbullguitars.com/wp-content...4-IMG_1860.JPG
http://pitbullguitars.com/wp-content...6-IMG_1861.JPG
Ooo... Walk us through it DB. What's the advantage?
Hang on, isnt that TOM a tailpiece??? This will be interesting to find out how DB's getting this secure!
Alrighty, first to answer Bassguys question.
The theory is that because the Full Contact Hardware Tune O Matic sits flush on the body, and string height is adjusted using a cam system all string energy is transferred directly onto the body ( not through skinny little screws) and therefore should improve sustain etc. Basically a string through effect without the strings going through the body.
Now for Pest's question.
See the packet on the bench behind the Jagitone?
That packet contains the posts and studs for the bridge and tail piece.
Check out the Babicz interweb page www.fullcontacthardware.com
An interesting piece of trivia that Bassguy will appreciate is Jeff Babicz was working with Ned Steinberger in the early days of Stienberger Bass production. :)
cool sounds like a cool bridge system DB, can't wait to hear how it sounds
Was Steinburger the headless basses ?
Stienberger was indeed the Headless Bass dude.
Man this Jagitone will be AWESOME!!!
After much scratching of goolies, swearing and stuffing around, the FCH TOM is installed... Whew!
Next time will be much easier I am sure :D

looking great DB, so is this baby almost ready to bolt together ? Don't forget the large diameter cable lock so it remains in your possession for more than a nano second once complete !
A few shots of the headstock.
The Stienbergers look sweet, especially with the MOP insert on the back of the headstock

very stylish DB, you must be stoked with the results, can see your reflection clearly with the camera !
I think you need to up the size of the cable lock even more now !
Ok, I'm just gonna say it... Those tuners are wacky. Not my cup of tea at all. But, that mother of pearl inlay on the back is freaking gorgeous and the bridge looks like an amazing piece of machinery.
Any idea how the full contact bridge affects sustain compared to a traditional tom? And if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for that bad boy?
WOW DB!!! That is great!!!

Hey Pablo, The tuners are whacky... that was one of the things that attracted me to them. That and the fact they are designed by Ned Stienberger 8-)
The FCH bridges have astounding sustain as they sit directly onto the body and the saddles are an adjustable cam so there are no skinny little pegs to stifle string vibration transfer to the body.
They range in price from $118- $138 for the TOM bridge and tailpiece.
Check them out here www.fullcontacthardware.com
Love the TOM bridge and Tailpiece... All looking realllll sweeeeeeeet... DB
And now, the moment you have all been waiting for....
Just a few minor jobs left. Control cover plate and strap locks...
Oh, and just for Gavins benefit, a truss rod cover :)
