Thanks Andy40, looks like I have a couple of build diaries to find.
Thanks G-Axe and Richy17. The Blasteroid is giving me ideas, you're a bad man (meant in the nicest possible way).

Way overdue progress report,.... has it been that long?
Cut overall shape for the pickguard and the cutouts for the pickups and the switch plate with a scroll saw.

Then used my improvised router table to tidy the edges and used a 30 degree chamfer bit to put the angle on the edges.
Now I can see why the usual is 45 degrees, it gives a better separation of the pickguard layers on the edge , but this will do for now.

A mock up, pic is a bit dark

Now the hard part begins.....eeeeek.

This will take a while.

Ooh, that’s looking really nice and will go really well with that brilliant paint job.
Wayne.
Well done Grant!
A belated thank you Wayne and Fretty.
Seem to have hibernated during the cooler months, guitar building-wise, and only progress to show is that the body has been polished.
The finish has settled enough that the trem cavity repair/fill on the back of the body is easy to see with the naked eye, having a hard time getting a pic to show it, if look in the right spot you can see the bottom edge in this one

Had an almost full roll of aluminium foil tape and couldn't resist using it for shielding the cavity routings, shiny inside and outside.

Have finally worked out what to put on the headstock, not how to do it, first idea would have added unnecessary weight.
Still have to start the wiring.
Grant
There has been some progress with this one. Made a template for the shaped piece for the headstock and used that to make a piece out of mirrored acrylic, the thinking being it wouldn't weigh much.
Attachment 33686
Once the lettering was applied it became obvious the acrylic wasn't going to do the job.
Attachment 33687
Started again using aluminium, polished as well as I could get it,
Attachment 33688
then applied the lettering. (The only pic I have left of the template coz the phone decided to delete almost all pics on it. May have been dropped one too may times in its past..maybe)
New bit in place
Attachment 33689
and comparison showing why the first one wasn't going to work well.
Attachment 33690
Wiring is mostly done, did have to get more push back wire as underestimated how much would be needed.
Getting closer.
Grant
That looks hot.
I wish I could get a finish that good!
