Hi all, interesting last couple of days with some setbacks prior to some satifaction.
First up, I tried very lightly sanding my teal stain in preparation for my attempted black burst so the coating would adhere well.
I applied the black burst via spray which was average and somewhat unatractive as I applied too much black and lost most of the inner colour. In an attempt to recover, I sanded back hard and even after being particually carefull (and nervous), I managed to sand through the colour and pretty much ruin it. (Quoting Frankenwashie, I said "Caca" rather loudly many times)
Next day I added some stain to my sealer to re-instate the colour which worked but the edges where the black burst was turned a really deep blue. At this point the finish had become quite dark all over and I considered a full sand back to bare (again 'Caca' was said). As a last attempt, I sanded again extra carefully and tried the black burst again. At this point the guitar appeared almost black all over not disimiliar to the effect on Sonics Black Cherry SG where the inner colour was visible only in good light. Taking into account the stain/ sealer mix dries to a subdued matt finish I kept on hoping all was not lost.
Then when I applied the first coat of gloss clear.. 'my happiness, slowly creeping in' - 1st mock pic is prior to said drama. followed by current state.
