Ha, no sorry. Wasn't laying blame.
My fault.

Not a bad today.. Actually went ahead and decided to fill the through body holes, so I could install the Wilkinson bridge. Ended up just filling with white wood filler, and sanded back.. Due to my crappy paint skills, I decided to go for a somewhat relic look. So the filled holes match the body quite well.
Also successfully drilled out the control plate holes to fit the Emerson - And also chiselled out the cavity. Plate looks a little wonky in the photo, but will be sure to straighten up when I drill the holes.
Heres a teaser mid-build mock.

The only thing I'm waiting on now is some Tonerider pickups, and shielding.
Since the photo Ive actually layed some oil down on the body. I did the neck, and also my last guitar in Danish oil. I tested a little on the body, where the pickguard would be last night, and it seemed to cure quite well on the paint.
Stupidly though I put the oil down with that terrible steel wool from Bunnings - The brand that's everywhere. It didn't take too well to the oil - Now my body is full of steel filings, and a faint steel hue.
Looks like i'll be sanding it back and rethinking the application.
... and here I am not 2 days after the last post, and almost finished the build. Ooh boy am I impatient.
The Danish oil actually cured alright, so I kept it on. After a light rub back with steel wool, it looked like I wanted it, so decided I would start getting the neck and hardware on.
Pickguard went on alright, as did the control plate.. Only issue is part of the pickguard sits up a little from the body near the control plate - I need to throw another screw in there.
Bridge installed OK.. Stupidly I 'almost' stripped the head on the screws.. Maybe I didn't drill big enough pilots holes? Maybe I used the wrong sized screwdriver? Maybe the screws are shite..
Then the neck.. I sat it in the pocket, and got some string out.. Took me a few goes, but all seemed to measure up OK. Started drilling the pilot holes, and before too long I was screwing the neck down.. Got the screws in, and there looked to be a gap between the neck and the body. To make sure everything was straight I decided to string it up.
Strung her up and oh boy my heart sank. Strings were hugging the frets. It was like they were making love to each and every fret. I adjusted the bridge, truss rod, and while it make it better, it was still pretty darn un-playable.
Decided to install the string trees, and pull off the neck... Oops.. There was a whole heap of debris from drilling the pilot hole that had got between the body and the neck.. So I cleared it all up, and installed the neck again.
Big smile. After around 20min of tuning, adjusting truss rod and setting up, the neck is pretty darn straight, and there is little to no fret buzz.. The action is a little high, but hey. I figure as it settles I can adjust again.
I'm just waiting on the Tonerider pickups to arrive, then I'm pretty much done.
Heres some more teaser photos.. Will post final build photos and soundclips once complete.

Oh.. and yes it is that yellow :( It looked so much creamier on the can.. Even after spraying it looks creamy. Once I sanded it back, it went bright yellow.
.... and done.
On Tuesday night I installed the Tonerider Hot Classics I received that day... Went well. Had to chisel out the cavity a little more for the bridge pickup. Soldering went fine, as I had the Ermerson pre-wired kit.. However, when I installed, I had no sound. Took the control plate out again, and resoldered.. the same.
What I found was the pots were touching the bottom of the cavity where the shielding was.. Ended up just putting some electrical tape between there.
Plugged her in and bam.. OMG does she sound sweet. She sings.
