Looking good John. Tru oil will really bring out the contrasting layers of ply around the sides, and the back has some nice grain feature. Really liking this build
Good work, John.
A few shots now that it's had a few coats of TO (binding still needs scraping, so ignore that)

Digging that black treatment, it'll look great with the binding.
Yes, it's looking good.
Man, I had a coupla setbacks with this build and it has taken forever. But! I think I'm back on track.
I had ordered the wrong tuners by mistake (which is my own fault for leaving tabs open on the computer for the wrong tuners even after I'd realised they wouldn't work...). I only had enough money to order the right ones in the last fortnight, so that seriously held me up.
I also decided I hadn't done a very good job on getting a flat black on the front, so started again. It's still not perfect, but I think the flaws now are due to the material rather than operator error. I buggered up the binding on one of the horns too, which irks me, but for now I think I'm going to have to live with it - I can't afford more binding material, and if I take any longer he'll never actually get the bloody thing.
Good to see this one is still progressing John, how bad is the binding booboo?
Hmm, good question. Difficult to quantify - I would say it's pretty bad, but I suspect the guy I'm making it for won't notice. The binding is slightly too thin at the top of one horn, where it wasn't quite held tight against the channel while it was glued. I think it's glaring, and if I was selling it then I'd be re-doing it, but as it is really a gift/homage to his art practice and as he isn't actually a guitarist I think this is probably the only instance where it's ok to leave as is.
