Thanks guys. It has been worth it. Plus she who must be obeyed says I can have another one if this one turns out ok. It's the first time I ever tried staining, I was a spray paint man before this. Thanks for that tip about the slots in block of wood Simon. i would never have given that a thought until I lost frets 20 & 21.
The head isn't finished yet. I got my Mother of Pearl yesterday to make the TRC. Got to be careful with it. I have read it catches fire if you cut it too quick.

Disaster! One of the bridge studs wouldn't go in properly. Pulled it back out and took away a lump of laminate. I filled and stained it but it sticks out like a sore thumb.
I have ordered a Ric style bridge from Thomann. It has a chrome plate that will sit over 99% of the chip. So fingers crossed. :(

bummer Harry, lets hope the new bridge hides the repair. It's looking sweet by the way I haven't seen the latest pics for a while.

My Great uncle 4 times removed is buried out your way. Ellendale Station, East Of Gerald ton, WA, . He was transported in 1844. Daniel Baughan.
Getting new bridge Saturday. Just got email from Germany. So I'm at a standstill till then.

This is turning into a nightmare. The hole I made in the top won't take a decent stain on the filler. The new bridge has a chrome plate 86 x 20 mm which will cover most of the damage. (I could have done with it being 30mm). I'm not going to just leave a scar showing so I've ordered a bit of pine veneer and am going to replace the whole section. I'm lucky in a way that the patch runs fron the cutaway at the tail to the bridge pickup so should get away with it. I've got the back shining like an antique cello. 3 hours polishing with 0000 steel wire and 3000 grit wet/dry. Then buffed up with a lovely beeswax. Neck and head are finished. That's the only photo I can show for a weeks work. Will report back on the veneer.

Had a bad week with the beast. Getting over it now. I put an old glory flag over the hole. It'll do until I get a new scratch plate. I'm going to make it full face like the strat. It looks good in photoshop! Will get it strung and finish the wiring tomorrow and see how it plays.

Bit late catching up with this thread and really like what you have done so far.
