Thats is looking really nice Rushburner, I like the edgehugging take on the burst there.

If you brush on the top coat rather than wipe on that should seal the stain and not cause it to become trapped in the liquid finish being applied and consequently cause everything to look the same blended colour. This is what I did with using Tru Oil on the J Bass & Tele in my signatures and also did the same on both Explorers over DT. Spraying is also another option but light brushing could save the hassle of buying more finishing products.
