lookin good Doug. You can always upgrade the pick up later, a single decent P90 won't break the bank. I have a brass nut to go on mine as I used one on the JR-1 I did and it has a nice spangly sound, combined with the hollow body I'm hoping for some thing similar but with more resonance.

Looks good Doug. I'd let it all settle down for a few weeks before final setup

Thanks guys. I did a little more tuning this morning & it does sound nice, not quite in the same area as my Takamine & Ashton 12 strings but the potential is definitely there with some upgraded electrics & a bit of fretwork. I hope you blokes get yours up & running soon cause I am interested in how each of you solve any problems you encounter. On the whole this is a fine DIY guitar kit for those of us who are more acoustically inclined than the heavy metal builders.

Like the sound of a brass nut DEDMAN where did you get it? & did you glue it onto the neck?

Doug, I got it from realparts in Bris. and yup glued it. Between work and the weather I'm not getting much of a chance to get into the workshop just lately.I have ear marked Tuesday as guitar day, now it's up to the weather. :p

Hi Chico, welcome to the forum. Be best if you introduced yourself in the welcome section of the forum (near the top) - instead of posting your query in someone else's build diary.
I think the ES-5V kits will sound great, especially if you upgrade the bridge, pickup, tuners and install a bone nut. If you are lucky Doug is the closest to finishing his ES-5V build so he may be able to record you a sound demo.
Dedman is building one but think he said elsewhere he doesn't have any recording equipment.
There are plenty of 2 pickup hollow body kits at Pitbull available would have more sounds available with 2 pickups versus one pickup of the ES-5V.
Wudtone have a good range of stain colour's and do an amber kit and some darker browns dark tease and columbian gold (not sure if these colours are still available but they were 2-3 years ago) or you could do a nice tobacco burst maybe.
Best of luck Chico, I think any Pitbull kit you can make play and sound well with some upgrades and a good setup
