yeah thanks guys just hit it with 1st coat of clear and I have to say I'm pretty happy will post photos later
Hey forumites ( I'm pretty sure that's a word, if not it should be), I've put about four coats of clear on now, I plan to give it another couple and then try and sand it back to see how flat I can get it but I think it will probably need more, still fairly happy with it so far(I'm very hard to please). I have done a rough cut out of the headstock, still needs to be sanded back further, a bit more aggressive than a strat shape but it is what I prefer and since it's a D.K. not a fender it can't be wrong. Anyway here's a few pics, would like to know thoughts on top headstock radius, should I go more aggressive?Attachment 3390Attachment 3391Attachment 3392
Looks really nice there DK! Should be a good entry for GOTM when it is done!
As long as it doesn't have to go up against the Frankenpester.
Looking great so far.
Hey D.K. the body and pickguard colours are looking killer! Such a great combination. The natural body colour was an inspired choice!
cheers,
Gav.
G'day the other DK :D, this is starting to look seriously good.
The headstock looks like a variation of the Ibanez that I went dangerously close to using before settling on a 50th Anniversary Strat shape.
Watching this build with a lot of interest
sorry DK when I did my profile I didn't realise they already had one, all my mates call me D.K. You're right on the money with the headstock shape being Ibanez-ish, that's what Im was going for, I prefer it over the strat style.
No probs about the user name, the forum just grabbed the name from my email address and I left it at that.
I looked at the Ibby headstock and also the Lotus Strat headstock which is quite nice, Don Williams's lead player has a really nice one which also sounds incredible but a fair dollop of talent on his part helps too
