First kit! STA-1

No probs with bringing up old threads - good to keep it all together. We all get busy and some guitars take longer than ... well ages...

Some photos specifically of the area of concern would be great!

It's also been 3 days since last adding an intensifying coat in attempt to smooth everything out

Hi Mr Foster, give it a light rub of super fine steel wool and apply another coat

Alright here we are
Looks like I have the same problem areas just less of a problem, I did a little more with the steel wool this time around. What do you guys think I should do?

Here you can see the perimeter where it lacks the sheen from the last coat

Still have these spots around, when I applied this coat it seems to reject what I put on there, this is why I think I need to give it a good rub down with the steel wool

Man I must have messed up big time somewhere to end up with this. More experience I guess!

I definitely feel your pain. I've even considered sanding the top coat off and nitro-ing instead. But I'm also wondering whether it actually has to do with not getting and even grain fill, which isn't effecting the stain stages but is leading to the top coat sinking into the wood adhereing to the surface differently. DB probably never has this problem because he has the experience and patience to always have his wood prepared perfectly, so he has probably never come across this problem himself.

That's what it's looking like fretworn. I'm thinking of just getting rid of those high spots with steel wool and giving it one last coat before going to the top coat. Probably right about DB too, he knows the stuff better than anyone!

So now that Christmas is out of the way let's get back on to this!
From what I can tell I should just keep going with what I was doing?
