OOPs nothing to see here this is now under Double Cut Juniors

El Cuba is currently waiting on a 40mm forsner bit to do the control cover route. I thought of making up a template but with the rounting bits I have I'd have to have it either 20mm above the body, or use a rebate cutter that wouls cut a 7mm edge around the current rebate.

What I plan to do is position the 40mm forsner bit so that I get a nice cut centred on the existing route, and then run the router down between two parrallel guides.

Well that's the current plan, but that could evolve :)

At last the new roller bridge and tailpiece have turned up, as well as another four black Knobs.
Is it me or are chinese items getting nastiers with their already cheapness. This bridge and tail piece is no where near the qulaity I have had in the past. Maybe I should have gome with gold parts... But I don't really think gold would add any class to this build. I found a whole pile of black pickguard material in the Man Shed yesterday, so the scratch plate and control cover are,,,, Covered...

I've also found a few nicks and scratches here and there on the body, so I'll have to decide whether or not to do some serious sanding to fix these. mostly on the side and back. I think I can leave the front alone although I might have issues matching the stain I used

I've mounted the Bridge and tailpiece. Minor stuff up with the tailpiece. I'd lined up the drill perfectly, but had forgotten to lock the pedestal. so the second hole moved about a hlf a mm I had to do some discreet filing on the tailpiece slot
The bridge went reasonably OK, it finished about 1/4 mm out. I really need to get a aloy locating jig setup for doing bridges and tailpieces.

I've drilled the hole from the pickup cavity into the Bridge post. Now just need to come up with asiutable way to drill from the pickup cavity to the control cavity. I would have done more except I have been playing taxi driver all day. Does anyone have a house to rent in Werribee. Need to get my son to move out......

can't help with your son, but nice progress on the axe.

More progress this morning, first I had to go out an split 3/4 of a meter of red gum for the fire, thank god I have a hydraulic block splitter.
Any way got to work on tunnelling the hole through from the pickup cavity to the control cavity. This was a bit of a hard task as I had made the control cavity a long way back, and with a body thick ness of only 37.5 mm I had no room for error, so I attacked this old school with the Brazen Bitch and a couple of long auger bits. I chose this as the hole has to be at least 100mm long and I needed to be able to clear the body work with the Brace.

Result is perfection, see for yourself
