Oli, I feel your pain. I played my newly painted ST-1 on my knee and forgot that my pants had a metal button on the pocket!!! needless to say some choice words flew out of my mouth!

Out with the old rattly kit bridge. In with the new kinda better wilkinson!
Get rid of the EB 9's and put back on the EB 10's
Things should be back to normal in my world!!

It is just amazing. What a difference this bridge is over the kit one.
Hmmmmmmm. I may be venturing into expensive territory.

Yeah the Wilko compensated bridge is a nice piece of kit isn't it
Hmmm, non rattley wilkinson goodness.....noice.
Great!
It's quite cheap to make a big improvement over the standard kit items - Tonerider or other low cost replacement pups, Wilkinson hardware etc. But then you have to make a much bigger investment to get a noticeable improvement over that.
Though drilling the body for through-body stringing would probably be another cheap improvement you could do.
Guys. It is really really good!
Really!!
I feel like now I have a $700 guitar.
What a great feeling!

When you add up all the cost of the parts, and add in your effort, you probably do have a $700 guitar! ;)
The combination of olympic white with black pick guard looks sharp! Love the headstock too! Did you shape it freehand or follow a plan?
Top effort OliSam. How do the Artist PUP's sound? The clip on their website would have one believe they are as good, if not better than the SD's they were compared with.
Cheers, Waz
And finally a few good shots of my finished guitar.
I love this thing so much and play it every day.
Just super.

Of course it is covered in dust. But that's life when you're living on a building site!

Looks great and obviously sounds great.
With locking tuners, you shouldn't ever have to have a full turn of the string (or more) round the post. The idea of them is to get rid of as much excess string length as possible. So when putting the strings on, get the post angled so that the string goes straight through it when fed from the nut, pull it tight and lock it down. You should then be able to get up to tune within 1/2 to 3/4 of a full turn of the post. You haven't got a trem, so it's not as critical, but if you had, on a standard tuner, the relaxing of tension when using the trem allows the normal 2 or 3 turns to slacken off a bit and reposition themselves. When the string comes back to normal tension those turns can then move a bit afterwards, normally to contract a bit more, and the tuning goes out.
The main idea of the locking tuner is to remove those (now unnecessary) string turns and so to remove one cause of guitar out-of-tuneness.
Top looking build Oli love the look. Well done. Better enter GOTM after you wipe the dust off!!
Agree with Woks and thanks for mini review of the PUP's.
Looks great. I'm building one of these. How do the pickups mount to the pickguard?
Just a cut-out for each humbucker with a hole either side for the mounting screw. Then a spring in-between the underside of the pickguard and the standard flat mounting leg on the humbucker with the height-adjustment spring through the middle. It's just like using pickup rings but without having to screw the pickup ring to the guitar.
You just have to fit the pickups to the guard before attaching the guard to the body.
Thanks for that, what I thought. Only the centre hole where the height adjuster is in the cutouts and no screws in the kit for the 4 holes on the pickups. Just want to be sure before I drill any holes.
I really like this guitar Oli, I like the upgrades, the grovers, wilkinson compensated and knobs, very taseful
Very tidy. I can feel another Tele coming on.
