Hi Andy, Great video and loved the first tune the most.
Looks like you did everything right and it sure is a mystery how the colour leached out. Must be something to do with the clear top coat as everything else looked fine up until that stage.
Tried fixing the colours and ended up sanding right through.....doh.
That was some time ago.
I've changed the colour scheme and am in the process for phoenixing this build.:D

Matching Rosewood Strat & Tele perhaps?
That's a shame Andy. I hope the 2nd try works.
Chris
I'm liking the snapshot :)

That latest pic is looking pretty cool Andy40, hope it works out better this time round, the thing is not to let setbacks discourage you cause sometimes they can turn out to be blessings in disguise.
Starting to get excited again. did some wet sanding this morning:D

Looking really good so far Andy40, the body of my Gold Strat is almost ready for clear coating, I sprayed the final coat of paint on it yesterday and checked it's status a few minutes ago, it seems to be dry but will give it a bit more time.
Finally got the new pickups ordered too.
Very nice Andy - it lives on!
Finally got around to getting the decals done.

Man that's looking awesome Andy40.
I need to give Dingotone finishes another go soon, when I finally get around to getting that 51 Tele kit ordered this year I'll have a yarn with DB about getting some T.V. Yellow Dingotone finish ordered.
fantastic job Andy, looks great.
Looking superb. So did you do that, or did Joanne40 take over? ;)
Looking good Andy and curious to know what colours you used for the rescue job?
Cheers, Waz
Thanks guys,
Waz, I used the remainder of my custom DT rosewood stain after popping the grain with ebony timbermate. I had to use tru oil as the finish as I used up all of the DT MkII finish.
Looking awesome Andy!
cheers,
Gav.
Wow, that's looking great Andy! Looking forward to the final reveal!
Did it retain much of the original colour scheme or was that mostly lost in the sanding back? Either way from what little you have revealed it looks stunning.
looking good andy, was on youtube last night just surfing around came across your video of a tele it sounds amazing mate
@gav -...thanks mate...still a padawan to your Tru oil skills, but what you have said to me previously has helped me immensley.
@Zandit - thanks Zandy...me too!
@waz - went right back to bare Ash mate.....took ages, I had to sand out the red timbermate and re-timbermate with ebony
@Phroz - Thanks man. I hope you enjoyed the vid. I was just muckin around. I want to do a proper one sometime....to many projects on the go.
Thanks guys;)
Nah it was never an option mate. :o
Originally it was going to be a sienna burst with a white three ply pickguard, I parted with that idea (may do it again someday), and chose an ebony timbermate with the rosewood and three ply back pickguard I found in Mooloolaba music on special. (score)
I always wanted to do the ebony timbermate with my TLA-1R but i was afraid that it would be too dark. I love my tele but always regretted the decision to go neutral timbermate.
This strat makes up for that I think and I am super happy as to how its turning out.
Hi Andy I like your train of thought.
Seems like Mooloolaba Music is one of your favourites even though it is over an hour's drive from where you live? I drive past them every day and haven't been in their store for about 12 months or more. Too much temptation lurks in those places and I need to be strong.
Cheers, Waz
I drop in when i go to court on the Sunny coast:cool:
Fair enough.
Where else would you go in Brisbane? I haven't been into any down there for quite a while either.
Probably the one in Paddington
Ah yes, I think I have been there some time ago. It is on Given Terrace on the low side of the road where you have to go downstairs if memory serves me correct?
The one I am thinking of is the Guitar Shop, 40 Latrobe St Paddington.
Given Terrace runs into Latrobe so probably the same place.
Got some more done this week
