I ran a razor knife around the shape then dremeled free hand to the cut. I really need a decent router base for the Dremel, the plastic one is so wobbly as to be useless. However I think I learned that inlay is for folks with a steadier hand than mine :P
Yeah, you're talking about the round-ish plastic, depth adjustable Dremel base? I bought one and was pleased to find it fits the Ozito cheap ass dremel knock off I have. I also discovered its functionally fecking useless. Like you say, not the most stable of things and certainly not for inlay work.Quote:

Stew mac router base for dremmel is pretty good, and buy the edge guide too - then you can rout binding channels

How did you get the purfuling and binding so clear on the front? didn't you spray the black?
yup, I did, but I masked the binding and then scraped the little bits that snuck under.

Almost there, she makes noises! Earth to the tail piece need attention as its a bit hummy. It's strung with the Chinese strings atm, still have truss rod cover and strap buttons to go on, needs more fiddling with bridge as there is a bit of a buzz of the low E. It's a bit quiet electrically, I used my EQ pedal as a booster so I could hear it over it's acoustic self (which sounds quite good so far)

yea, sounding good, the mini humbucker is a long way under the strings so that's why it's quiet
made some "factory" stickers to go inside the body...currently soaking in tea to age them

yea I just printed them on ordinary copy paper, I'll use some diluted Aquadhere to glue them in.
We used to dye paper with tea when we kids to make pirate maps and such LOL. Lemon juice then iron it works too

Which reminds me, I'll need to get together some stuff to make a headstock logo for my Gold Strat, but I'll wait till it's up and running first though.

and almost finished. I just need to confirm where the front strap post attaches. on the semi's it goes on the heel of the neck but thats a bit awkward on a fatty like this . Should it go on the body just behind the neck?
