I've noticed that other hollow body kits don't all have the F hole binding. Did you mask off the binding prior to staining? Or does the stain clean off easy enough not to worry?

I didn't go as far as masking off the binding, I cleaned it up with a razor blade, sandpaper and steel wool.
I suppose you should first check for fine cracks, as I've read others have had cracks develop in their binding, if that's the case.... keep the stain well away from it!
Welcome aboard the good ship Crazypeople, Wisdom :)
With masking of binding, it will depend on the type of stain used.
If you use Aniline dye based products, you would be wise to mask....
Otherwise, paint then when cured scrape and polish as Swanny did.
That's good news for me, I really didn't want to deal with masking and bleeding tape lines. I'll probably end up using Dingotone, looks like nice stuff.
Wisdom, I don't think Pitbull can ship Dingotone overseas. I think you'd have to buy a return ticket, bring your kit over, treat it with Dingotone and then take it home. It sounds expensive that way!
LOL! would be a fun trip though!
Gorgeous guitar Swanny - great job!
Thank you, Dave! I love playing it, too, both plugged and unplugged.
I'm about to go and have a look at this other dog's breakfast we're building. My son's at uni, so I'm left to it by myself, and it's just not my thing...
Hey Swanny,
Have you experienced any fading with the stamp pad ink?
I've got a bike. You can ride it if you like. It's got a basket, a bell that rings and things to make it look good. I'd give it to you if I could, but I borrowed it.
Thanks for the offer, Weirdy! I've signed up to do a charity ride in four weeks, and I've been raising funds for MS. I don't think your bike will be suitable for the 100km ride. I'm having a middle age crisis and building a Porsche style model... no baskets!
I'll take donations though!

Nevermind...
But, good luck with the ride.
Just caught up with your thread Swanny. The guitar looks amazing dude, just stunning. Nothing better than gold hardware on blue! Any chance of a sound demo? Just love it dude.
cheers,
Gav.
Hi Swanny
Love the guitar it looks fantastic, I'm looking at ordering my first kit (ES-12G)
I have a few questions
Do you use standard tuning, half step down or full step down
Does it stay in tune
Any issues setting the intonation
Thanks Conrad! I tune the guitar using standard tuning. The Grover tuners do a pretty good job of keeping it in tune.
The one thing I’d like to see different is a slightly wider neck, there’s not a lot of finger real estate up the far end.
If you take time to dress the fretboard and setting up the bridge, there shouldn’t be issues with intonation.
Thanks, my order arrived yesterday
