Circuit board side towards the pots:

That'll give you 1-3 hot with tone, and 4-5 mute. The ground connection on the end lug will mean the output is grounded in pos 4 & 5, which should keep it a little quieter when muted.
That's awesome - good idea grounding the end lug too.
Thanks again Weirdy. Will probably wire it tonight. For once a simple wiring job (no shoving a nest of pots and switches into the cavity).
@wokks getting close mate! Very exciting.
Well, it would've been simple if the components weren't shot.
Switch is stuffed, volume pot is stuffed, jack is stuffed.
Gonna have to order some parts (there goes the 'only using spare parts' rule) and transplant them on.
EDIT:
Okay, was extremely frustrated last night (just one more change in the circuit... just one more... suddenly it's 1am).
Did some troubleshooting today and there's definitely something up with the switch to volume pot connections. Will continue troubleshooting today.
Nothing is ever simple eh... post some pics if you can't sort it out and we'll see what we can see. Are you getting any sound at all, intermittent or just generally dodgy?
Also, I forgot to mention in my last post, if you haven't shielded the back of the pickguard (so it makes a ground contact with the switch body) you should link a ground wire to one of the switch casing lugs, just in case.
Centre lug seems to be dead on the pot. It's not giving any continuity. Will have to order a new one.
To top it off too - the bridge's saddles have a few threaded posts so I can't wind them high enough to clear the frets.
Might put this on the back burner for a bit. Getting frustrated.
bummer Nick, where is the bridge from ? sounds like you should be able to replace the saddle posts and order another pot.
Just use the tone pot for the volume and go without a tone for now, rather than having to wait for a new one. And, if you're willing to risk it, you could always guesstimate the saddle heights (with the saddles removed) then superglue the posts in that position.
It's been a massive journey with this one but it's finally done!
It was a fun(frustrating) project learning how to do a fabric finish. It isn't perfect but it's good enough for me. In the end it only cost me about $40 altogether and that was mainly because I wanted this build to use some of the parts I had lying around.
The sound is pretty scooped on the bridge pup (cheap high output Chinese make) so it needs a bit of compensation from the amp but the neck pup is actually quite sweet. The bridge measured at 14k and the neck at 5k. I compensated the volume difference with pickup height.
Here's a pic below. If you guys want it I can also record a demo. Let me know!
Job done

well done Nicko looks awesome, doesn't matter how long it took to build, main thing its finished and making noise.
Sure I'd be keen for a demo video. Nice idea with the difference in resistance of the 2 pups, I'll remember that one !
looks great Niko, good job
Looks amazing Nick! I would personally love a sound demo if you can manage it. A Great job and a very inspiring build!
cheers,
Gav.
Nick, this has turned out great and just love the Paisley finish

Great job Nicko. If it had been a Tele James Burton might have nabbed it.

here's a quick demo.
Haven't set it up properly - having trouble with a bit of back bow in the neck so the action is about 1cm off the board. Not ideal for playing haha.
Going to try clamping the neck and force a bit of relief under the advice of sensei DB. Will see how it goes.
sounds great Nicko for not an ideal setup. I picked up couple of the riffs Foos times like these and AC/DC riff raff. Others sounded familiar but couldn't think of the names.
You played with the truss rod to straighten the neck ?
Great demo Nick! The guitar sounds amazing and your playing is top notch!
cheers,
Gav.
Nice Nick, love the demo and the guitar turned out great.
Cheers everyone! Will sound even better when I fix this neck relief and it's not playing like a dog :p
