Hi Lawry
Yeah, my electronics guru mate Anthony & I completed the wiring today as it happens.
I seem to have eradicated virtually all of the noise with the shielding work (now earthed) as per previous post.
Everything works - at least in test mode :?
Been lots of interruptions lately, so it's great to get back back into it again.
I hope to get stuck into the "luthy" work straight away . . .
That's excellent that you got the noise out, especially considering how much you've got going on in there. Thanks for posting, mate. Really keen to keep abreast I this.
Second that Lozza, so bloody clever!Quote:

Following MORE delays, another update/teaser.
Cut a new clear acrylic cap and fitted a single chrome lipstick pickup at the mid-position.
The big 'bucker was blocking too much view of the playfield goodies.
Went midpoint for aesthetics and to (hopefully) reduce the jangly sound of a single coil at the bridge.
The lippy is also very slim and doesn't have a "triangular" base plate like on say, a Tele chrome PUP which would be visible.
Re-shimmed the neck "socket" and I'm almost sure that the neck incidence is correct now.
The f***ing wraparound bridge decided to lean over under string tension.
The adjuster threads were too sloppy and the two "saddle" locaters likewise - cheap shit.
Help is on its way.
The good news: after the latest fit-up the electronics ALL check out OK with very little noise being generated.
If ya want pics, y'all will have to wait for the ballbuster movie :P
Great progress max, good to hear it's still moving ahead. Good idea with the pickups, now we need pics!!
good stuff Max, like the rest of the forum we are all eagerly awaiting to see the finished product and a demo video !
There's going to be a movie?!
Any chance of a trailer teaser?
Hey Max. You got any update on this 'bigger than Ben Hur' build? Anything at all to sate my curiosity would be good!
OK Lawry, here's a mini update:
Solved the bridge problem with heavy engineering ie. fabricated & installed a solid "base plate" (see pic) with slightly negative canted retainer holes. Triple long screws into the wood. Now the bridge sits up nice and straight under tension.
Now, barring any more clusterf**ks we're on the home straight.
Might even drag it along to the 2nd Anni . . .

awesome!
great stuff Max, glad you're on the home stretch.
Would be awesome if you did bring it to the 2nd birthday party Saturday, I'll be there !
This is one of those builds that makes me think of the following quote:
“Those who say it can't be done should get out of the way of those that are already doing it"
Love your work, Max!
here's a quick video of the beast at PBG's 2nd birthday party lastnight, this thing is twice as amazing as it looks in the video !
well done Max you blew everyone away with this unique super cool build
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSdGT2cyUBU
So it's playable now, or was this just a mock up?
Q: Fretty
I fitted her up quickly, did a lightning tune up (not intoned) bunged her in a cardboard box & fronted up with it. (What a brilliant PBG party it was too!)
Just shaved down the oregon core bridge mount by 3/16" (see pic)
The action was Waaaay too high 'cos I didn't allow for the thickness of the 3.5 mm s/s base plate which I added atop it . . . shit.
Still need to sort a little teething trouble on the audio systems while she's opened up.
So bloody close now . . . . . . . .
looks far too complicated for me Max, look at all those wires and circuitry !
Unbelievable job Max, really interested to hear this piece of art in action.
This is insane, truly unique, love it!!
This is guitar insanity at it's most outrageous and very best! This has got to one of the coolest things I have ever seen.
All you need now is Elton John's 3 foot pinball boots. :D
When's the matching pinball amp coming?!
7 or 8 years on and this build is still out of this world!
I can't believe I've never seen this thread before!
