Same here, one of my favorite luthiers used them on one of his parlor guitars and he was quite impressed.

Supposedly they are very similar to coated Elixir strings with their special nano web coating. It does eventually come off, but that is an indicator on when to change the strings.
7 Weeks to go!!
I received my Fishman Pick up last week, excellent delivery time from the US with it dropped on my door just 8 days after placing the order!!
For those interested, it weighs 117gms without the 9v battery.

Is that designed so that the controls sit inside the soundhole attached to the face?
Yep, exactly right Drew. This way I don't have to cut a big hole in the side of the guitar for an EQ, or volume controls etc. The only hole to be made is for the end pin jack.
Here is a video demonstrating the pickup.

Looks like a nice unit. I guess the units aren't really heavy enough to affect how the face plate resonates.
The bulk of the weight is in the pre-amp which bolts through the end block and the only other bulky item is the battery which sticks to the neck block or the sides. Neither of those items will affect the sound boards reverberations. The two control modules and the microphone are stuck to the sound board but in an area that is pretty locked down by the X-Brace. Their footprint is also pretty small.
Makes sense, you'd assume that a company like Fishman would have thought it through. :)
Haha, yes you would hope so!!
If you're interested, here is the installation guide for the pickup. Head to pg6 to show the locations of everything.

This is actually a revised installation process. The mic is located in a different position. Originally it was located at the south end of the soundhole when the guitar is held vertically like it is in the diagram. It will be interesting to see if anyone picks up a difference in the sound production.
