My thoughts as well Adam
I have found the tape could lift fibres a bit with rosewood, but nothing like that. I would say that the "blackwood" probably hasn't been compressed enough in manufacture, or something like that. Definitely a QA issue for the factory.
to be honest i think you should send that neck back the fret board is 1 of the most important part of a guitar and effects many things if its not right, its a shocking looking piece of wood after a few bends that looks like it would fall apart specialty when blue masking tape can pull that much wood from it
I find myself agreeing with Phrozin. Possibly the factory are treating the boards as if they were real wood, and they might need more careful handling. Maybe they are using tools at too high a speed setting for the material and as a result the heat is weakening the glue in the fretboard?
