Top job and looks great.
Thanks for introducing me to those 'Adust-a-Nut' nuts. Works well on the EX-5.
The veneer works really well, and I can't spot any obvious split either.
Love the headstock design! This is coming together very nicely!
Finally got to spend some quality time with the project today ...
I'd already done the DT colourless stain coat. Gave it a light sand and added the first coat of DT colourless ...
pretty happy with the result ...

After thinking about the position/orientation of the split pickup I decided to go "trad" and use the standard configuration. Mainly because the whole reason for building a P bass was for the sound (although I am planning on using active electrics)
So ... spent a few happy hours routing the body for the pickups and controls. Also created a shallow channel under the bridge for the piezo cables from the bridge pieces.
Still not quite finished, but getting there ... still have to make the cavity for the pots and piezo/mag pickup select switch deeper.

I've been looking around at possibilities for finishes for this build and seen one I'd like to try ... a hand rubbed "tobacco" burst.
I've got a couple of DT stains to muck about with - Outback Sunset and Black Stump, which I'll try on a few test pieces before I commit.
Here's the MTD bass with the finish that's the inspiration. (I know that the ash body on this build won't come out like this!!)
Any wisdom from the experts would be welcome!!

Nice clean job with the routing. Where did you get the control panel cover from?
The plan for this build was to go with a Piezo bridge, pre-amp and active mag pickups.
I ended up with a Schaller Piezo bridge (as it also has adjustable string spacing), EMG active PBass set and GraphTech Ghost electronics.
The first challenge is to work out how to wire everything up. I ended up creating a "mash-up" of the schematics from Graphtech and EMG, which I sent to the Graphtech support team to make sure I had it right.
They gave me the thumbs up ...

I've started putting everything together ... I won't be able to test properly until I get the body finished, but getting the wiring sorted out has been interesting ...
I'll end up with volume and tone pots for the EMGs, a volume pot for the piezo pickups with a push-pull function to switch between different eq settings, and a 3 position switch for mag-both-piezo options
