Well after 2 weeks of work I've finally got it down to as much wood as I can get. I've applied a sanding sealer and rubbed it back to 1200. Waiting for lacquer to arrive.

The neck is finished after a fret level, fret crown and polish. Given that I've rubbed the body to 1200, will I need to rough up the surface to apply the nitro lacquer?

I've installed the tuning pegs and I've noticed that the washers don't sit flush with the surface. Can anybody who has already built an LP tell me if you need to countersink the top part of the tuner holes.
-
Hi Salo, some LP kits have flat tuner washers and some are domed which you have. No need to do any modifications. Have the dome pointing up they will fasten fine with the threaded nut ontop

Hey Salo I like the colour. Have you put any primer coats on ? Can still see some grain in parts. Also would be important that you grain filled before the primer coat or you will never get a flat finish.
-
Hi Wokka. I've used sanding sealer. Where it's a bit grainy is where there is some of DT is in the grain that I just haven't been able to get out. I've applied a second coat couple hours ago and it seems to have covered really well.
-
no worries Salo, after a 3rd coat the colour should be solid

colour is looking better Salo and more consistent.
Look forward to seeing it after the final coat.
If I had a dollar every time I thought the last coat WAS the last coat I'd be well retired haha
