nice work on the headstock , Tony
Trimmed the veneer edge off with router and rough sanded again. Have put some maple timbermate into the undercut join area to close the small gaps. Once sanded back will be near invisible.
Happy with how this looks against the guitar body.
Starting to sand the body back and the grain is really starting to come out. Cant wait to get some colour on this.
wow Tony that headstock is super cool, love the idea of the step down and veneer. Grain in the body and rosewood fingerboard are looking special too. Can't wait to see some karijini on ! Are you going to put a black coat down first and sand back or just a dark timbermate ?
Woks, still not decided on how to prep before Karinji. DB is having a look at something with gold highlights and will see if that's possible.
If not, not sure if I want to black it, probably at most mahogany timbermate and then Karijini.
So headstock cleaned up and neck sanded to 220 all over. Masked up and 1st coat of Karijini applied to maple.
Once done past intensifying coat will sand entire neck to 360 and start with clear.
nice one Tony that flame maple pops with the karijini. Whack another coat on and it will look the biz
This build has awesomeness written all over it, I especially like the headstock & the Karigini looks stunning. Not to mention the tasty ash grain!

Quick Update. Two coats of colour and three of intensifier.
A little bit of bleed through the tape but nothing a couple minutes with some sandpaper wont fix.
So for first time using Dingo tone and gotta say it goes on easy and in this hot muggy weather dries pretty quickly and takes additional coats easily.
If the body comes out this colour will be stoked.
nice work Tony that flame maple is really popping nicely. Don't worry karijini on the ash grain will get nice and dark/deep red.
How's the smell of the DT ? that citrus smell is the best !
